    Bit of Ranger trivia - see the sponson forward with the white dome of a CIWS? That originally held two 5"/54 Mark 42 gun mounts, as did the sponson aft, total of eight guns. Eventually the class (Forrestal, four ships total) had the guns removed and also the forward sponsons, which slammed in heavy seas; Ranger was the only one to retain them.

    I enjoyed Greece the times I was there. Parthenon made me feel like an infant.

    Ground attack Wart Hogs used to fly over the reservoir my Mom liked to fish in. They were reservists getting their monthly time in. Flew low enough to scare the fish and ruffle the water.
