I believe I have posted both of these items before but on the 75th Anniversary it seems only appropriate to post again. The DDay Statement that was given to Allied Expeditionary Forces as encouragement for those who were taking part in the invasion. And sometimes unfortunately the ultimate price that must be paid so that freedom can endure. Frederick Davis was an Uncle who survived the invasion but was killed on 6/20 when the Germans counterattacked. He is buried at Omaha Beach and I have been lucky enough to be able to pay my respects.
Was wondering how long it would take before someone mentioned the 75th Anniversary (not really my place). You must be super proud of your uncle - I would be.
I have done a lot of research on him and when my Aunt passed away I received all of the memorabilia she had saved. What was very interesting to me was how emotional I was when I saw his grave for the first time. I had never met the man but when you stand there surrounded by all of the other grave markers lined up in rows it really hits you. They were only married for a year and my Aunt never remarried.
