I was wondering if anyone new much about the Nazi UFO "Die Glocke" (The Bell). Also, it had a testing area called "The Henge". I really don't know much about it, so here are some links and pictures.

Welcome laner13,
Try using the search function at the top of the page. Nazi UFO's will bring up plenty to read! Look at the bottom of each page also as there will be "related" pages listed.

Well for starters this was actually part of Germany's nuclear programe rather than anything to do with UFOs. The project was created under the leadership of nuclear physicist Prof Walther Gerlach in January 1942, under contract to Heereswaffenamt Versuchsanstalt No.10 as Project Thor.

In June 1942 a contract was let to AEG to provide electrical power for the project with the highest priority afforded any wartime project in Germany, codenamed Charite Anlage.

AEG, Bosch and Seimens formed a commercial joint venture with a company formed by Heereswaffenamt called Schlesische Wekstätten dr Fűrstenau, (at Furstenstein Castle) Key laboratories were located in Silesia at Leubus (modern Lubiaz) and Neumarkt (modern Sroda Slaska) east of Breslau (Wroclaw). The contra-rotating centrifuge unit itself was built at Dessau by BAMAG (Berlin Anhaltische Maschinenbau AG) under the codename Die Glocke. The term Die Glocke comes from the poem by Freiderich Schiller "Song of the Bell"

Kronos was the codename for Gerlach's applied science project working on scientific and technical operation of the Bell. Principles were based on Gerlach's work since the 1920s in the field of spin polarisation of atoms, in effect to create plasma from the fluorescence of Mercury. Kronos was a classical name for Saturn which is apt for the Bell created a torroidal plasma around a core containing Beryllium and Thorium in a paraffin jelly.

The codename Der Laternentreager (Lucifer's Lantern Holder) conducted research on the biological effects of radiation, but also involved a project at Furstenstein Castle for training astronauts expected to fly a manned V-2 type rocket on a mission to New York (according to Gross Rosen KZ survivor Prof Meiczyslaw Moldovia)

The Bell went to an underground complex under an airfiled west of Breslau in November 1943. It first operated in May 1944 and on that occasion killed five of the seven scientists operating the experiment. The next operation was June 1944. By November 1944, in fear of Soviet advances it was shifted to tunnels under Furstenstein castle. On 18 December 1944 the Bell was shifted into Wenceslas Mine where the fly trap is located. It was flown out about 17/18 April.

First hand accounts of the Bell's existence came from:

SS Lt Gen Jakob Sporrenberg
SS Hauptsturmfuhrer Rudolf Schuster
SS Maj Kurt Debus
SS Col Dr Willhelm Voss
Prof Meiczyslaw Moldovia

Joseph Farrell has written extensively about the Bell but has also written a lot of rubbish about it too. I wouldn't listen to all this stuff about anti gravity. This machine needed prodigious amounts of electrical energy and did not produce energy. It was not a nuclear reactor, nor an engine.

I think this project was supposed to make levitation, time travel, etc... possible. However, I personally believe that it either was a huge wasted project, or some conspiracy theorists made it all up

A railway worker from Opole, by the name Joachim Ibrom recounted after the war that whenever it was operated it had to be hooked up to three railway wagons which he was responsible for. These wagons were themselves connected by a long cable leading out of the mine back to a power station built outside at the entrance to this mine.

The mine itself incidentally had been abandoned in 1939. Nobel Dynamit AG had built a bullet manufacturing plant outside the entrance to the mine. The codename for the mine was Komplex Milkow. It had a guardbox at the entracne to the mine and even quite senior VIPs like Professor Baron Manfred von Ardenne needed a security clearance to get in.

Ardenne said he was only responsible for the installation of a cyclotron inside the mine. he said that there was already one installed when he visited. This was recounted by Ardenne to Soviet plasma physicist GN Frolov in 1945. Frolov visited the mine with Soviet atomic scientist Igor Kurchatov and recounted the mine visit in an interview at the University of Warsaw in 1983.

Ibrom said that the Bell was shifted from one cavity in the mine to another every 2-3 times it was used. He said it gave a brilliant blue light when operated and made a sound like bees humming, thus it's operators called it the beehive.

Ibrom also said the wagons were taken out of service after use in the mine and destroyed. Even their axles were cut up so they could not be re-used, which seems highly odd given the shortage of rolling stock.

Also Thorium was mined and refined a short distance away at Wüstegiersdorf (now Gluszyca) and then was sent by train to the mine, thus the machine consumed Thorium for some purpose.

No these theories about levitation or UFOs are a smokescreen invented after the war by the US Government to conceal the real purpose of the bell from the Soviets during the Cold War. The reson why is that it provided a very effective way to obtain pure bomb grade Uranium 233, by breeding Proactinium 233 from Thorium 232.

Proactinium 233 requires Thorium to absorb a slow neutron at X-ray energies below 14 MeV.

I have recently discovered from a newspaper editor friend in Poland that Frolov was also known as Flerov and the discrepancy arises from poor English translation from Cryllic

Georgy Flyorov - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FLNR History:: G.N.Flerov

JINR :: FLEROV LABORATORY of NUCLEAR REACTIONS

New Scientist - Google Books

Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists - Google Books

It's also worth noting that Nazi scientist Prof Werner Heisenberg worked during WW2 with Swiss scientist Dr walter Dallenbach on the Nazi Bell at Bisingen. The second Nazi Bell at Bisingen was captured by Alsos in late April 1945 after the US forces suddenly and inexplicably turned south from Berlin. ALSOS took all documents from Bisingen and dismantled important parts from the bisingen Nazi Bell leaving an incomplete machine for the French to find there.

Heisenberg referred at Farm Hall in secretly recorded conversation with Dr Karl Wirtz talking how there were three known methods to create an atomic weapon.

(1) Separating Uranium 235

(2) Obtaining Plutonium from a Uranium machine (pile)

(3) Breeding Proactinium

Why would Heisenberg refer to Proactinium, a heavy element which does not occur naturally?

Why is there no reference in WW2 historical literature to Nazi efforts to build a nuclear weapon from Proactinium when Heisenberg not only mentioned it after the war but also advocated for it at two 1942 conferences in February and July that year?

The real Nazi Bell was a marvel of technology and the historical record needs to be set straight. the world needs to know Nazi Germany was closer to using nuclear weapons than we are allowed to know.

It was nothing about anti-gravity levitation. I suspect people like Farrel, Nick Cook and Igor Witkowski have been skillfully manipulated to promote these stories for gullable people to create a smoke screen for the actual device.

The CIA and NATO governments need to wake up that they can fool some of the people some of the time but they don't fool me and i hope they don't decieve the readers of ww2f anymore. It ain't cool to be a fool.

But, how would it create a neutron flux of any sort? Again, the explaination that it was for breeding U233 from Th 232 doesn't ring true. Aside from that U233 doesn't make good bomb material even if it is fissionable any more than U238 does (the later can be fast fissioned using graphite moderation). If this method were both practical and efficent wouldn't it follow that others would have taken up its use post war?

Indeed they might have wasted even more resources if we hadn't.

Peisander, you seem to know quite a bit about this subject so I am wondering if you know of any primary sources or contact information about Prof. Meiczyslaw Moldovia or the text of the Sporrenberg "interviews" or the Gerlach transcripts relating to the Bell, a source on Dr. Walter Dallenberg, the exact Voss interview as taken by Agoston discussing what could be the Bell, the German interview of Rudolf Schuster, physicist Georgy Frolov as his testimony relates to von Ardenne, the formula by which Proactinum 233 becomes transmuted into anything which will produce a chain reaction, the "Goudsmitt Papers". I know this is a big request and nobody will have it all but can you help me? Everyone discusses these things but getting to the primary sources looks tough. Thank you.

Why indeed? Especially since proactinium was discovered in nature in 1913. All the "artificial" elements are transuranic, i.e. they have an atomic number great than 92. Proactinium is element 91.

As you said, Peisander, it ain't cool to be a fool.
