I have opened this tread for discussion about the man who will Make America Great Again, the future 45th President of the United States.

God bless America and save the President!

Please, consider this #1 post as a placeholder. More text is to follow.

May I ask those who do not endorse Trump to be considerate, at least for the 1st 100 days of his presidency.

I say give him a chance. He's not even sworn in yet, and the Left calls him all the names they can. I love how he sent CNN to the stand in the corner.

That was my favorite part - the man will "send to stand in the corner" all political tabloid pseudo-elite. Trump is the right medicine for rude pseudo-elite press who pretend to know better than Average Joe.

I watched the 1st Press Conference from the beginning to the end - twice. Not because i'm stupid but I really liked the way he managed the event including the transfer of all his businesses to his sons so he can work for America from a "sterile room" even though he could have done the opposite.

Yes, that was one of the funnier parts...The room is far from "sterile", and under no circumstances open it's closet door.

Indeed, not yes-men but people with experience and own opinion and capability/courage to counter the President. We can expect conditions for brainstorming. No cronyism.

I have nothing against him hiring US workers. However if he made the profits probably mostly by using cheap Chinese/other foreing work force and material how will he make profits by using alot more valuable American workers? Well, now it´s time show that people in the US start taking US workers and not cheap work force. Maybe one of the reasosn he gave his sons the firm to look after-he doesn´t have to be in charge of the workers and their pay. What do you think?

I think he did what every good father of his age does: wants to see if his children can do the job without his interference, when he will be gone. He told them: "after 8 years I will return and tell you 'you did a great job' or 'you're fired'".

PS: I think this is his farewell from the business. He earned enough and the last stint will be for America.

That would "do as I say, not as I did for eight years."

This is not Trumps unique feature - just look at Obama - Murdoch (Fox news) relationship. There will always be moaning.

Or legitimate criticism. Just don't expect people to be nice after the way you lot (mis)behaved.

I do love the dismissive tone of that post, however.

The founders envisioned politicians, especially the presidency, as prominent men who stepped in from private life, did their bit then went home. They actually warned (in the Federalist Papers) about allowing a professional political class to form, who would just become a new aristocracy, with different titles. That warning was heeded in the early years and the young nation exploded with opportunity. Men from private life (with good reputations) made a bid for office and usually, because they were ruling by their own acquired wisdom under sound constitutional principles (instead of ruling to enrich their backers), did rather well for the country.

All that faded away and we now have a professional political class, an aristocracy beholden to the lobbies that supply the money that keeps them in office. If Congress was naked on "bring your lobby to work day," it would look more like a high budget gay German porn film than a legislature.

So, here's Trump. I don't think he's the wise and prominent private citizen the founders envisioned, but (technically), he fits the bill. He's not bought and paid for. He says he will drain the swamp.

Then he adopts Reince Priebus as Chief of Staff. Priebus is the biggest bottom feeder in the swamp, and Chief of Staff is the executive officer of this leaky ship we call the United States. He's the tactician that will get things done, and his only skill is trading favors for money, or money for favors, or favors for favors, all of which is paid for by poor working slobs like us. He was head of the RNC and that's what a Party Chairman does - trolls the bottom of the swamp like a diseased carp. It's what party heads do.

I'll give Trump more than 100 days, just because the consequences of any political action lag far behind the machinations of the political machine. I'll give him a year before I check my meter to see if it's moving toward green or red.

At this point, my only feeling is "Thank God Hillary didn't win." Hillary was so bad, I don't think Trump could do worse even if he tried.

I'm neutral here, but I'm loving all the doom-laden angst from the British Left. Exactly the same crap they spouted in '79 when Reagan got elected- "he's going to start a nuclear war and we're all going to DIEEEeeee" etc. But point that out and they'll tell you you're exaggerating.
Woman I used to work with is supposedly taking part in this "march in London" to protest about Trump; I mean, how dare another country elect a leader the British Left don't approve of-what happened to democracy?!!
