A manipulation and fake news in the very first sentence:

DONALD TRUMP, IMPLEMENTING what one news outlet called a “tough lobbying ban“, swept several registered lobbyists out of his transition team last week — only to replace them on Monday only to replace them on Monday with new officials heavily involved with lobbying for the same industry interests.

but the "tough lobbying ban" is defined as:

to require incoming officials to terminate their lobbying registrations, and agree not to lobby again for five years after leaving the administration.

because of the requirements three officials were forced to resign lately.
The new member of his team accepted them, his is not a registered lobbyist, or even a lobbyist anymore. He (Joel Leftwich) seems to be a good choice anyway, the nutrition standards (his responsibility) change every year creating regulatory burden costing jobs and wasting money.

Both The Intercept and Politico are rabidly leftist news outlets, so nothing new anyway:

Yep sums it up nicely. Others I am sure are busting a gut to get there and resolve it.

So if not sitting on your ass what are you doing to resolve the issues. I am doing nothing because there is nothing I can add to what others are, my efforts go where I can make a difference as with keeping local services in place. Time and effort well spent.

Oce asked by an aide to respond to a letter to the editor from one of his critics, Vladimir Lenin refused, saying: “Why should we bother to reply to Kautsky? He would reply to us, and we would have to reply to his reply. There’s no end to that. It will be quite enough for us to announce that Kautsky is a traitor to the working class, and everyone will understand everything.” [...]

That has been the modus operandi of the left for decades. It doesn’t respond to arguments with arguments but with stigmatizing names designed to end debate. As the communications arm of the left, the media conforms perfectly to Lenin’s method. Instead of rebutting the arguments of conservatives, it has found it easier to brand them as “enemies” of science, women, minorities, the poor, and so on. [...]

But that demagogic shorthand only works as long as Republican politicians defer to it. For years journalists opined self-servingly under the guise of objectivity and got away it because Republicans were too afraid to shatter that illusion of objectivity. They permitted the media to serve as the arbiter of what qualifies as “mainstream,” “extremist,” “racist,” and so forth, and made sure to stay within the media-determined parameters of any discussion.

Donald Trump has blown up that absurd arrangement and is beating the media at its own game. He labels reporters in the same way that they label him. He upends their dishonest framing of debates by treating them as what they are, liberal partisans. [...]

Contrary to the whining of Jake Tapper at CNN, last week’s press conference was not a distraction from his governance but an essential component of it. He recognizes that his agenda can only move forward if the people tune out the media’s distortions of it. Were Trump to take the media’s advice, he couldn’t govern. The more he neutralizes the media, the more successful he will be.

If he treats it as an opposition party, that’s because it is one. The fury of the media is the fury of exposed partisans, for whom ruling had once come so easy and now is too hard.

With every leftist I know, this is the characteristic about which they are most proud: They are rationalists and skeptics, with shibboleth-shorn minds free of bewitchment. The problem is, leftists who consider themselves rational and non-superstitious are like scrawny nerds who look in the mirror and see a chiseled Adonis in the reflection. One almost feels bad for people so possessed of a delusion.
Let’s examine a few of the ways in which the wrongheadedness of leftists resembles the religious bunkum they claim to reject.

To begin with, leftists believe in the power of money to solve all problems, much the same as Christians believe in the power of prayer to do the same. Leftists believe that the solution to everything is to throw more money at it. Failing schools? Recession? Institutionalized poverty? If the government simply throws more money at it, all will be well. It matters not how many times throwing money at something has failed to solve a problem; for leftists, the money solution is a matter of faith. [...]

If spending is the equivalent of prayer to a leftist, “climate change” is the equivalent of Christian “end-time” cultism. Let me share with you a very recent, and very relevant, example. Over the past week, we here in sunny insane California have faced the prospect of a major calamity as three merciless months of near-nonstop rainfall have led to the possibility of a massive failure at the tallest dam in the U.S., in Oroville, near Sacramento. It’s a big deal; 188,000 people have been evacuated. Concerns about how the aging Oroville Dam would fare in the face of record rainfall were raised years ago, but the state and the feds ignored them.

The story has been amply reported locally and nationally. But what the press conveniently leaves out of its coverage is the underlining theory behind the dam inaction: climate-change apocalyptics had convinced the Silly Putty-brained California powers-that-be that rain was never returning to the state. Quite literally, new dams, and improvements on old ones, were rejected because a doomsday cult had convinced politicians that water was “over,” that the drought that began in 2012 was not a passing thing but an “era,” something that would last decades if not a century. And why build new dams if there’ll be no water for them to hold? Why refurbish old ones if there’s no chance they’ll ever be filled again? [...]

We were told that Mother Earth was punishing us for our CO2 sins by withholding her precious water, and rainfall would only return once we submitted to cap and trade and international climate-change treaties. And anyone who dared suggest that the drought was a passing thing, that weather was not permanent but fluctuating, was ridiculed for not knowing “eighth grade science.”

Witch doctors in white coats who study tree stumps like gypsies read tea leaves told The San Jose Mercury News in 2014 that the drought might last over one hundred, maybe even one thousand, years. If you Google “California,” “drought,” and “will last” or “may last,” you’ll see endless links to left-certified “scientific” snake-handlers who claimed, right up until a few months ago, that the drought may last hundreds of years, or thousands of years, or “forever.” [...]

Never forget that the voodoo priests of the left banned the most effective types of asthma inhalers because they were “killing the earth,” even as leftist billionaires were allowed to continue flying private jets all over the world in order to play golf and screw fashion models and conduct similarly important business. There is no way this is any saner than the faith healing and tongue-speaking of the charismatics and evangelicals. Indeed, it’s worse, because it’s way more invasive, way more intrusive, in the lives of bystanders. No right-wing Christian ever forced me to anoint with oil. [...]

That’s science? No, that’s an Indian rain dance.
These days, the left has no moral high ground over the religious right. In fact, I’d take a conservative Christian over a demon-haunted leftist any day, because at least conservative Christians admit that their beliefs are faith-based. [...]

I have nothing against people of faith. But hypocrites? They piss me off like a sonofabitch.

David Cole really needs to lay off the crack pipe...

    Because this

is nothing more than the product of his crack addled mind.

For you see, the problems at Oroville have absolutely squat to do with climate-change apocalyptics. The problem goes all they way back to the 1960's - you know back before we had those "climate-change apocalyptics" - when the entire flood control program for the Yuba & Bear Rivers Basin was being considered.
    http://www.water.ca.gov/waterdatalibrary/docs/historic/Bulletins/Bulletin_115/Bulletin_115__1964.pdf
The Oroville Dam, on the Feather River, was supposed to work in conjunction with the Marysville Dam, on the Yuba River. The Marysville Dam would prevent the the Yuba from flooding into the Feather River, which would limit the amount of water inflow into the Lake Oroville resevoir. The problem is that the Marysville Dam was never built! Why? because it was determined to be economically infeasible.
    https://www.usbr.gov/history/ProjectHistories/CVP%20CORPS%20MASTER%20ZLA%20HC%20FC%20BC%20IC%20SC%206.2010.pdf

Economically infeasible...This would make Cole's first premise

    invalid.

Since the Leftists did not throw money at the Project to construct the Marysville Dam...Which would have effectively prevented the near-disaster at Oroville.

Odd how he ignores Big Pharma's role in this...

The ban effectively killed off the Generic Market for inhalers, and forced consumers to pay top dollar for the equally as effective, but CFCless inhalers that Big Phara was producing.

His point isn't that some dam wasn't built. The point is the so called enlightened and logical leftists are equally unenlightened and un-logical as certain types of Christian conservatives.

btw the last link is some self-congratulatory piece written almost a quarter century ago. There are 2,540 hydropower producing dams in the US, not to mention the others. It's unbelievable that the mighty US can't afford another dam.

From the L.A. Times, July 2015:
Dams are a relic of the Industrial Age…. They’re particularly ill-suited to the era of extremes—heat waves, floods and droughts—that climate change has brought on.

    The New Republic, April 2015:
The Pacific Institute’s Peter Gleick said: “Even if we built a couple of dams, we don’t have water to fill them. We’re tapped out. The traditional answer of building more reservoirs won’t solve our problems.” Building additional reservoirs does little when there’s no snow or rain to fill them.

California governor Jerry Brown in August 2015, responding to calls from GOP presidential candidates to build new dams and renovate old ones:
I’ve never heard of such utter ignorance. Building a dam won’t do a damn thing about fires or climate change or the absence of moisture in the air and ground of California. If they want to run for president, they had better do eighth grade science before they made such utterances.
The Sacramento Bee summed it up succinctly: “Questions loom about the value of such projects in an era of scarcity.” Because indeed, leftist voodoo practitioners had brainwashed the state into believing this was an “era of scarcity.”

    more progressive voodoo science:
Obama Administration Set to Ban Asthma Inhalers Over Environmental Concerns
Asthma patients who rely on over-the-counter inhalers will need to switch to prescription-only alternatives as part of the federal government's latest attempt to protect the Earth's atmosphere.
The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday patients who use the epinephrine inhalers to treat mild asthma will need to switch by Dec. 31 to other types that do not contain chlorofluorocarbons, an aerosol substance once found in a variety of spray products.
The action is part of an agreement signed by the U.S. and other nations to stop using substances that deplete the ozone layer, a region in the atmosphere that helps block harmful ultraviolet rays from the Sun.

His point is meaningless, because he is incapable of doing basic research...He resorts to the use of "alternative" facts instead of real ones. As a result all of his hypotheses are called into question.

Sherlock, the Marysville Dam was authorized by Congress for construction in 1966...Half a century ago, So the piece was written a quarter of a century after the Dam was authorized. Well before Cole's so-called climate-change apocalyptics even existed. Yet, it was never built.

    Obama administration???

The Montreal Protocol was done up in 1987, and ratified by the US in 1988...Seeing that wm. is so forgetful...This would be during the second term of a Republican President, Ronald Reagan.
    http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=35639

Now, several years later, the FDA would publish it's "Use of Ozone-Depleting Substances; Removal of Essential-Use Designations - Final Rule", in 2005.
    https://www.fda.gov/OHRMS/DOCKETS/98fr/05-6599.htm
Revoking the "essential medicines" status of albuterol-based metered-dose inhalers containing CFCs.
Again, wm.'s memory is deficient, as this would be during the second term of another Republican President, George W, Bush.
Please NOTE that the Final Rule does not become effective until December 31, 2008!

Now given that Obama backed away from many of Bush's Ozone standards in 2011,
    http://www.politico.com/story/2011/09/wh-backs-down-on-ozone-rule-062554
but not the ban on the CFC inhalers.

It is painful obvious that Obama's intention on keeping the ban on CFC inhalers, while sliding on much larger sources of Ozone depletion, has little to do with saving the Ozone Layer.

It happened in 2011, Epinephrine CFC Metered-dose Inhalers - Questions and Answers : Epinephrine CFC metered-dose inhalers used to treat asthma (known as Primatene Mist or Epinephrine Mist) cannot be made or sold in the United States after December 31, 2011.

That the earlier ozone-depletion alarmists did stupid things too cannot absolve him from his guilt.

Well, certainly L.A. Times, The New Republic, California governor Jerry Brown live in an alternate reality. It was thanks to alarmists like them nothing was done, and instead hundreds of millions were redirected to save a bunch of fish or a few kilograms of ocean plankton.
And to the $10 billion California high-speed rail.

Not exactly sure what the current governor of California has to do with the construction of a dam decades before he assumed the office...

At least this your post was laughable and entertaining.

What others? If you have any others list them here, do not force people to wade through tons of muddy writing.

They say at the beginning: "The new EPA standard is stricter than one the George W. Bush administration had set in 2008". Yes, its less than the green fanatics demanded but still will cost jobs and money.

Obama pushes green standards for everything but the kitchen sink
Spurred by President Obama’s climate action plan, the Department of Energy is pumping out new standards for refrigerators, dishwashers, air conditioners, ceiling fans, furnaces, boilers, water heaters, lamps and many more appliances.
The administration says the standards will not only help the planet but also stimulate the economy by saving consumers money on their energy bills that they can spend elsewhere.
But industry groups argue the standards, which will apply to both commercial and household appliances, could slow the economy, and that the Energy Department is rushing the new rules while overestimating the savings. Other critics argue the push to regulate household appliances is evidence of a nanny state.

Obama & Democrats Wasted Years & Billions On Stupid "Green" Boondoggles Instead of Working To Fix The Economy
Not only was 'Obamanomics' not smart, Obama doubled-down on stupidity by pursuing "green" energy/product boondoggles that have only proven to enrich his large donors while stealing money from the middle-class pocketbook.
At 'C3' we've been compiling headlines about the green boondoggles that Obama and Democrats love and promote. Below is a list these headlines, which provide evidence of an administration stuck-on-green-stupid with no indications that these fiascoes will end well.

Obama Sets New Record For Regulations – 81,640 Pages In 2016
To put into perspective what type of effect the regulatory state has on the American economy, a 2014 report by the National Association of Manufacturers found that regulatory costs on all firms exceed $2 trillion annually and disproportionally affect small businesses.

Obama to Push Nearly 100 New Regulations Before Leaving Office
The Obama administration is preparing to give the middle finger to the American electorate by ignoring the results of the recently held election and continuing with Obama's efforts to "transform" America.
The president has been unable to effect much transformation via Congress, so he has once again picked up his pen and is readying a dizzying array of new regulations from a dozen different agencies that will massively increase the burden on American business.
Seventeen of the planned regulations are classified as "economically significant," meaning their impact will be at least $100 million on business.

Wonderful...Except David Cole is not arguing about those...So they add nothing to your argument about CFC inhalers. Note that all of these "new" regulations come years after the banning of the CFC inhalers in 2011, which is the focus of David Cole's crack induce rantings.

Please kindly stick to the argument at hand...

I didn't drag him in here.

Anyway it was all trifles, this is much more important:

The reclusive mastermind behind President Trump’s nationalist ideology and combative tactics made his public debut Thursday, delivering a fiery rebuke of the media and declaring that the new administration is in an unending battle for “deconstruction of the administrative state.”
Stephen K. Bannon, the White House chief strategist and intellectual force behind Trump’s agenda, used his first speaking appearance since Trump took office to vow that the president would honor all of the hard-line pledges of his campaign.

Appearing at a gathering of conservative activists alongside Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, Bannon dismissed the idea that Trump might moderate his positions or seek consensus with political opponents. Rather, he said, the White House is digging in for a long period of conflict to transform Washington and upend the world order.

“If you think they’re going to give you your country back without a fight, you are sadly mistaken,” Bannon said in reference to the media and opposition forces. “Every day, it is going to be a fight.”
He continued, “And that is what I’m proudest about Donald Trump. All the opportunities he had to waver off this, all the people who have come to him and said, ‘Oh, you’ve got to moderate’ — every day in the Oval Office, he tells Reince and I, ‘I committed this to the American people, I promised this when I ran, and I’m going to deliver on this.’ ” [...]

Bannon framed much of Trump’s agenda with the phrase, “deconstruction of the administrative state,” meaning the system of taxes, regulations and trade pacts that the president says have stymied economic growth and infringed upon U.S. sovereignty. Bannon says that the post-World War II political and economic consensus is failing and should be replaced with a system that empowers ordinary people over coastal elites and international institutions.

At the core, Bannon said in his remarks, is a belief that “we’re a nation with an economy — not an economy just in some global marketplace with open borders, but we are a nation with a culture and a reason for being.
Bannon repeatedly used the phrase “economic nationalism” and posited that Trump’s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement was “one of the most pivotal moments in modern American history.”

Nigel Farage, the British politician who led the successful Brexit movement in the United Kingdom to withdraw from the European Union, said in an interview at the conference that Bannon has the right vision to reorder world powers.
I’ve never met anyone in my life who has such focus and is so clear in the direction that he intends to go in,” Farage said. “Steve is the person with an international perspective on all of this. He’s got a good feel for the direction that he wants to see across the West.”

NBC News, mainstream "unbiased" news source enlists scripted kids to trash Trump:
NBC News handpicked anti-Trump tykes for two propaganda videos to make it appear that every child in American thinks Pres. Trump is an ignorant racist and threat to the country.
Not one child in either “Dear Mr. President: kids Talk Trump” or “Dear Mr. President: Letters from the American Children” says he actually supports Trump’s efforts to keep America safe from terrorism or stop the influx of illegal aliens.
Both videos open with smarmy, false compliments to give the illusion that these kids haven’t been indoctrinated by leftist teachers and liberal media…but, then, both launch into unrelenting snide rebukes couched in innocent-kid-speak.
