I'm glad to read this. Looking forward to making a contribution when you've got it all set up.

Just wanted to let the good membership know that I hadn't forgotten about setting up a physical mail address. As of Sept 1st, we now have an address you send mail to, but I don't want to release it just yet.

As much as we could use the money and as easy as it would be to accept funds right now, even if they are donations, I understand that the act of doing this will drastically change the relationship between the good WW2F membership and your site Admin. There are a few issues that need addressing prior to any of this going forward. Not the least of which is how we will handle the private information we will now have access to if as start accepting transfers. We are currently creating a system where we never divulge any members info, and I will be ensuring all our Admins, Trustees, and Mods are well aware of the policy as well. In addition, I also want to give some idea of where the funds are going and what specifically they will be used for. I refuse to ever let anyone feel they have been taken advantage of, rather I want them to be assured knowing exactly what good they are doing for their fellow military historians.

As your Forum Admin team is works diligently behind the scenes, we should have this completed by week's ends. More on this as it solidifies, members feedback and commentary appreciated and expected. :otto:

could the physical address be sent to members via PM ?
that way it is not posted publicly.
and how about a general fund where people could contribute anonymously to maintain privacy.

Can I suggest a donation could be made as a memorial or a dedication to someone ? I would be glad to donate in the memory of a fallen relative from WW 2... Or one that served .

I'd be happy to donate anonymously, if you can create a system to do that.

Perhaps another additional option could be to set up a user group to fit donating members into that would remove the banner ads? While they are not large or intrusive, I really wouldn't miss the Filipino hooker ads that pop up from time to time.

Firefox works great. Adblock+, flashblock, no script. Bob's yer uncle. No accidental trips to pornland. Because all trips there are accidental.

    Otto...

Why not indicate on our avatars somehow that this member is a "Financial supporter" as Axis Fact Forum do?

Seems like a just reward for a donation, to let other site members and guests know. I always thought it was a good idea for this site as well.

How much is enough, Mr. Otto? and how much is too much?

Despite the protests of my wife, I would be happy to be a contributor, and even happier to see it on my avatar, to let people know I'm a serious site user, not just some 'blow in' with an axe to grind, although I am capable of grinding axes at times. Apologies in advance and retroactive for my sharpened weapons!

Now, I really must draw the line at 'purchaced commissions'.

This would place us firmly in the realm of "Rich man's site, poor man's fight"!

Having said that, it would be 'cool and groovy' to be an officer, but that might compromise my socialist values!

OOPs.....Did I actually use the word GROOVY?....and have i actually admitted a 'committment to Marxism'?

    My bad.....
