Xavi has risked infuriating Arsenal by expressing his ambition to play with Cesc Fabregas and claiming the Spain playmaker has "Barcelona DNA". Rafael Benitez insists Liverpool can still mount a title challenge despite losing their third game of the season 2-0 at Chelsea on Sunday. Liverpool lost only two matches last term but second-half goals from Chelsea's Nicolas Anelka and substitute Florent Malouda condemned them to their third defeat inside the opening eight matches of the current campaign. It is more than 40 years since any team have gone on to win the top-flight crown after losing three of their first eight games. ----------- Cesc Fabregas produced a virtuoso display as Arsenal saw off the challenge of Blackburn 6-2 at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon. The Gunners captain had a hand in all but one of the six goals, getting on the scoresheet himself during the second half as the home side recovered from going behind after just four minutes when Steven Nzonzi headed Rovers into a shock lead. ------------ Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor claims the £25,000 fine he incurred for his goal celebration against Arsenal last month was "excessive"
Liverpool looked completely flatflooted and had very little offense going vs. Chelsea. Torres again decided not to show up for a big game - say what you like about him scoring 3 goals vs Hull but come on, 3 goals against hull? Thats going to happen more often then not against a team like Hull City who will struggle to stay in the EPL this year.
Instant notoriety is guaranteed for a young spectator who effectively condemned Liverpool to a 1-0 defeat against Sunderland here at the Stadium of Light. The 'supporter', who was wearing a dark blue top - the colour of Liverpool's city rivals Everton - has been captured on YouTube throwing a beach ball into the Liverpool penalty area during a Sunderland attack. He could not have imagined the consequences before a shot from Darren Bent struck the ball and diverted it past goalkeeper Pepe Reina for the decisive goal in Saturday's match. It was an incident which provoked surprising responses from the two managers, with Liverpool's Rafael Benitez remarkably sanguine about a goal that brought about his team's third successive defeat. Asked if the goal should have been disallowed, Benitez said: "It's a technical question. It could be a goal, but it's difficult to say. In this case, I think it should be a goal." Steve Bruce, the Sunderland manager, was not so certain after speaking to a referee after the game about "outside interference". He said: "I've been told the laws of the game state it should have been disallowed and the game restarted with a drop ball. But does anybody know that rule?" ---------- And Chelsea lost to Aston Villa 2-1.... It´s not going to be easy for anyone to win the Premier League...
Nice going Madrid! ------- Real Madrid captain Raul insists his side can still turn around their Copa del Rey tie against Alcorcon despite Tuesday's shock 4-0 defeat. The defeat was Madrid's third loss in their last five competitive games after defeats to Sevilla in La Liga and by AC Milan in the Champions League, and that run has heaped the pressure on new coach Manuel Pellegrini. Raul insists everyone must shoulder their share of responsibility for the result, though, saying on his club's website: "We win and we lose together, which is why are all to blame."
Robin van Persie scored twice as Arsenal comfortbaly beat Tottenham 3-0 in the 162nd north London derby at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Eduardo could have added a fourth but he slid his shot wide with only Gomes to beat, but the home side made it 20 games unbeaten against their bitter rivals with an emphatic and fully deserved victory. ------- Oops! Rafael Benitez endured another day to forget as nine-man Liverpool lost 3-1 at Fulham...
And here in Istanbul at half time Liverpool are 3-0 down its all over. never say never at least until after the christmas fun
I know how the game ended and dont mess with the words Musso, its 'YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE' something you gooners would not know much about
Weird coincidence....great first name... "Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen on Monday afternoon gave birth to a baby boy. The child, who the couple have named KAI Wayne Rooney, was born at 2.20pm at Liverpool Women's Hospital, their spokesman said."
Nope, but we also don't live in the past. Bringing up how the Champions League Final you won played out really doesn't pertain to the current state of affairs in Liverpool. Clearly it was an anomaly, as Liverpool can't live up to such standards anymore. Whats that - knocked out of the Champions League already? Disaster!
Again I think Sir Alex is talking too much about the referees when he should concentrate on his team. If you lose take it like a man! Anyway, you should thank the referee fot not putting Evans out for kicking Drogba in the chest. Unfortunately the video was just removed from the youtube but it definitely was a straight red card foul. "There was a worrying moment for Chelsea in the 71st minute when Drogba was kicked in the chest by Jonny Evans. Astonishingly, Drogba was then booked by Atkinson. " I guess Drobga asked Evans to kick him and that´s why he got the card...
I think the Ref wasn't in great position on that one, but I am still confused as to how he gave Drogba a yellow. He made up for it though, and gave Chelsea a free-kick that won them the game. Fletcher is such a dirty player though - and blames Wenger for getting called for fouls now. I think Liverpool play tonight (Rafa's job if they lose?) and of course my Arsenal romped to a 4 - 1 win over the weekend.
Yes, it´s Liverpool-Birmingham and should be a comfortable home win for Pool. Liverpool cannot lose anymore points for some time in order to be in top 4 in the spring.
Sure looked comfortable to me ;P Liverpool were gifted a 2 - 2 Draw against perhaps the worst team in the league on a controversial penalty...clearly no contact on Ngog who went down in the penalty box that gifted Liverpool the drawing goal with 19 minutes to go.
