Well i thought it might be nice to be able to play some sort of PC game with other forum members! For $20 the most graphically-easy game i can think of would be Hearts of Iron II Doomsday. Also the most fitting game as WWII can be played out on it. Also possible to save the Multi-Player game so it doesnt have to be played all in one session (which would be near impossible).

Other games that come to mind are the Combat Mission series (Beyond Overlord, Barbarossa to Berlin, Afrika Korps) though those are more 1-on-1 games. Can play a round robin.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

I would reccomend Soldiers, heroes of WW2 or Company of Heroes.

A good friend just dropped off a server at my apartment just 5 minutes ago. I'm entertaining the idea of setting up a WWII gaming server with it. Call of Duty immediately comes to mind, are there any other multiplayer games that some of you might be interested in?

HOI II Doomsday comes to mind, but i dont think a set-up server would work with that.

Call of Duty sounds like a good idea...rifles only mod too ;)
Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 would probably work too.

I dont think i can think of any other decent WWII games that would benefit from having a server up.

I second this vehemently. This game is truly incredible in how many (accurate) units, vehicles, planes, and weapons it contains. It is also a very unique style of play. Either use it like an RTS or you can take direct control of any soldier on the battlefield and go FPS with a third person view. Not to mention the fully destructible environment which is always a huge bonus to be able to drive your Panther right through a building to get to someone.:D :panzerattack: There are also many good mods adding onto the game.

Here is some more info on it:

Do these games come with some kind of hand held controller? I've never played a PC game.

Ouch, know the feeling, up till I was about 12 all we had was a Library comp. You'll need a fairly high end one too to be able to play SHOWWII. Best of luck

The only 'bad' thing about soldiers heroes of ww2 is the AI is stupid. You shoot someone with a sniper rifle, and his buddy strolls up to the dead body giving you a double kill. But other than that is is a great game!

True but we were talking about doing multi player so that doesn't even come into it :)

P.S. does anyone here have the game and want to do a game? You would need cable and something like skype. I've never actually played online yet
