Sorry, I am not your long-time champion, but a brand-new member. As it happens I know who was the roommate to William Casey. It was Harold C. Deutsch, who was rated as a top expert for the OSS on the Nazi internal political system. Though slightly too old to enter directly into the military he was given the assimulate rank of Colonel in the OSS. He told me that being roommates with Casey was quite something in that Casey was quite a character. Also he was often touring France doing his duty and so was not in resident in Paris so he was essentially living alone part time.
Okay my turn: Which German Atlantic wall pocket was the last one to surrender: Lorient , La Rochelle or Saint Nazaire? Don't forget to mention the date.

Why did the British and Canadians land on the left and the Americans on the right at Normandy? It took me years to find this one, y'all probably already know it.
There has never been clear reason given, other than when the US forces started being shipped to England, the southern part of the country was chosen for US Bases. From what I have read, it is not known who made the decision to displace UK troops north, but the author of Brute Force felt it was a mid-level flunky in the British Army and he speculated that the south of England was chosen early on as the domain of the US because it was 'closer' to the US. Whether this supposed proximity actually had any validity is debatable, as many US troops landed at Northern ports and were railed south. Anyway, Americans on the right, UK on the left because that was the way they were bivouaced prior to the invasion and they did not need to cross each other when transitting the Channel. Clear as mud? If you can find anything to prove or disprove this, I am open for suggestions.
Yyes he was. I intended to add that to my post but neglected to do so. Jump on out there with a new question, Kai.
Ok. Thanx Slipdigit! This will test your memory a bit, hopefully. What was Hitler going to call the new Berlin once he had won everything and rebuilt it by Speer´s plans? He was going to rename the place.
