I think i like this topic! U-boats type XXIII and XXI if you compare them with any other submarine you can see how modern they were and how they influenced next generation subs!!
Some good examples Ome_Joop! Hey, is that the U-boat in Bremerhaven? (or is it Cuxhaven?) Because I have been there & seen it! (and spent the rest of the day kicking myself for leaving my camera in the hostel...)
Wow, some very good examples indeed, Ome Joop. I like the Ju-278, it has a surprising similarity to post-war heavy bombers... Do you have any more info on this plane?
I got some more info! The JU-287 eventually got captured with it's designers by the russians who finished the project! http://tanks45.tripod.com/Jets45/Histor ... Ju-287.htm http://prototypes.free.fr/ju287/ju287-3.htm The U-boat is the U-2540, now called Wilhelm Bauer, as seen in Bremerhaven.
Except that the wings are swept forward, which is a highly advanced (& difficult!) aerodynamic concept that only NASA has really developed - although I think the CCCP made a forward-swept wing plane, the MiG-144
NASA didn't develop FSW (forward swept wings), there was a German biz-jet (HFB-320) in the sixties, in service. Admittedly not as radically swept forward as, say, X-20 or even Ju-287, but still.
X4 wire guided air to air missle that the germans were trying to us in ww2. They also developed the X7 wire guided AT missile which although no reports exist may have actually been used on the eastern front by some troops. They were also developing infrared/heat seeking and camera guided missiles. FNG[/img]
the FN2000 and a few modern american assult rifles are very futureistic but yes the Steyr AUG does look futureistic, and probally is one of the most futureistic looking bullpup guns
Well, I thought about that, but it seems a little exposed for that. The last thing you want to do is accidently release your mag.
It probably is quite stiff and it probably wont work by just pressing it. I'd think you need to pull that lever forward and up. Therefore its a bit safer.
