Whenever I think of Gaddafi, I think of that one guy in Comedy Central's Roast...

Apparently he's in cold storage, or was recently, while they decide what to do with him; guess they're lapsing the 24-hour rule.

Khamis was killed around Tripoli at the end of August. He commanded the 32nd Brigade, which was the best equipped unit in the Libyan Army. Another one of Gaddafi's sons, Saif Al Arab, was killed in a NATO bombing raid earlier in the summer.

I doubt that Saif al Islam has been captured. The NTC said the same thing yesterday, and still haven't produced evidence. He has claimed to be captured twice before (the last time embarrassing the NTC by showing up in front of western journalists in a convoy of armored land rovers while Tripoli was being captured). Weeks ago he wass rumored to have been in Bani Walid to the southeast, then was recently reported to be in or near Sirte. He was rumored to have been in Ziltan this morning, some 300 miles to the west of Sirte. He seems to have free reign of the countryside. I don't think they'll capture him.

Well, Kaddafy is dead, so who or what will take his place? Can't wait to see what the future brings us.

..with Gaddafi dead at least the population he tyrannised for 40 odd years has closure. Had he survived and been put on trial his undoubted and ridiculous defiance would have gotten relentless media coverage..at least like this - gunned down like a dog in cold bloood - there is no danger of his dynasty returning, no-body has to mention his name anymore and we can all move on..

Well since it would presumably be the Lybians burrying him why would this cause Muslims to get upset with America?

The quote you use is/was directed at a poster now in the cooler for "hate speech", which suggested he himself would bury the body with a pig carcass. It was his attitude I was addressing.

Wasn't that business over the bullets something to do with which animal fat was used? Couldn't use beef tallow because of the Hindi beliefs, couldn't use swine lard because of the Muslims?

Yes Clint...Some of the finest Indian troops were made to rebel against Britain. Massacres everywhere...It was the fat they thought was on the cartridges which in those days had to be bitten at the screw paper type end. The Brits knew the rumours themselves but thought it was not worth addressing officially and paid a price for it. I dont know why everyone thinks johnny foreigner the native is going to run away when threatened though. Who we fighting in Afghanistan, the Zulus were not exactly the brigade of Guards...The Nepalese were not the Sutherland Highlanders, and I don't have to remind anyone surely that the Vietcong were not exactly the Marines. Our friend in the cooler has a funny idea of johnny foreigner running away with this tail between his legs.

Did I miss something else or was the remark "bury him with a pig carcass" the 'hate speech' retort resulting in the infraction?

Just checking the parameters here. If it was due to the two posts I saw and just the two posts I saw I want to be able to "check" myself in the future also. How long does "cooler time" last usually?

Life in your case..Without parole you have to make tea and water cress sandwiches. No crust. For Otto every morning before you join the ww2 forums chain gang...I've been working on the raaaailllroad...The orange suits are quite fetching though.

For a first offense?? Golly Gee ! As for the tea and sissy sandwiches... never mind.
So Gaddafi is dead and the World will continue. It is interesting that he is/was in "the cooler" pass the normal burial time. Does this not go against their beliefs? Kind of like the ultimate insults of seeing the soles of shoes and being hit with footwear. I'm not trying to be "cute" here but wonder if this is their way of (for lack of better explanation) excommunication or shunning?

As non-Muslims, most of we posters really don't know. But that may not be a bad or incorrect interpretation of his treatment.

He most certainly wasn't a follower/believer (Muslim) of the faith (Islam) in the strictest sense, and in many cases not even in the most 'reformed' sense. He (Gaddafi) used the Islamic religion as an "excuse" on occasion, and a "reason" on others. The major sections of the Islamic faith may be having trouble even acknowledging the man as even a follower (Muslim) of the faith (Islam). To my own interpretation he seems to have been mostly a nihilist:

1.total rejection of established laws and institutions for personal gain.

2.anarchy, terrorism, or other revolutionary activity.

3.total and absolute destructiveness, especially toward the world at large and including oneself: the power-mad nihilism that marked Hitler's last years.
