Spitting blood and little parts of your lungs every time you coff for the rest of your life...?

Rifles are overrated then too. They killed some 2% of the people killed in WWI... Machine guns 15% and artillery 80%...

I would like to see a person whose morale is not affected by gas, whether it affects them physically or not...

It would have been a very dumb idea of Hiter to use the gas. If it worked and a lot of Allied soldiers would have died, the Allies would have bombed every big city in Germany.

I mean that the Allies wouldn't have been very mad and that they would have bombed every city into little pieces.

Actually I think as Hitler had lost already everything, it´s a sorta miracle that he didn´t use the gas weapon. He could only gain. But maybe he remembered how he had suffered himself (?) Or maybe Speer managed to stop him, or maybe someone else?

Kai, Hitler didn't want to use gas because of his own experiences during WWI. He was one of those WWI veterans who 'overrated' gas...

Whether he suffered himself from gas or not, this explanation implies a humane trait which I have problems to concede Hitler. He did *not* have any problems to annihilate, neither the enemy, nor his own people.

Wasn't it the German General Staff (Halder) who asked for permission to use gas against the sieged Leningrad 1941?

I am not sure, Andy. But I some time heard that gas was used or was going to be used in the outskirts of Leningrad or the city itself. I don't know if it was Halder the one who asked for it or if it was actually used. I haven't found anything in my sources...
