I have seen this jacket and wanted some information on it. I am trying to decide if I should buy it. I know it was a standard issue army jacket. It is in great condition. The thing is, that the inside is different to other ones I have seen. Does this mean anything?

can anyone tell me what they think it is worth? They want $850.

Which actually seems reasonable considering it comes with that bayonet holster thing and the belt etc

All feedback would be greatly appreciated, I am very new to this.

This is a parts tunic. Officers collartabs on an Enlistedmans tunic. Enlistedmans shoulderboards mixed with Officers Collartabs.

This is a 1936 model Feldgrau (Field Gray) Tunic. You can identify this because the 1936 model has 4 pockets as apposed to the 1943 two pockets and less button whole's (To conserve presious material). The Feldgrau is a colour known in English as field gray which is a darker shade of green. Felgrau was almost on everything that the German's made during the early war including mortar's (Particularly the Gr 34 80mm), some of the mess tins, gas masks, gas capes (But these were found to be useless in about late 1941) and even helmets and trousers.

The white stripes indicate that the soldier was part of the infantry (As apposed to Specialist's like mountain troops and Fallchirmjager). The uniform also has the standard Y-Strap which is found on almost ALL of the uniforms you will find now.

I would pay $700. I think that the Breast eagle is fake as well as what C.Evans thinks.

On this subject, but only a tangent in reality. I am posting this old OSS recognition film since so many people today by far prefer the moving image to the still photograph or drawing. It is both interesting, and done in the proper temporal context. Some of the colors are rather "off" from the narration, but I would believe that is due to film fading over the years rather than errors by the OSS.

$700.00 for what?! At best this is a 'humped up' field tunic. You can not even see the boards or the eagle...and you would still pay $700.00 for this? It is comments like this that lead people to go out and spend their hard earned money on junk. Then after said person learns the truth they will run to Ebay or Gunbroker.com and try to sell their 'vet bring back uniform'....

    Hah, well RRCOLLECTOR,
I think maybe, no offense, you should do a little more research on what they price in real life (Not on Ebay or anything like it). This uniform, although I do believe the Eagle is fake, the uniform is in amazing condition and it has most of the features including the white piping for infantry as well as a MINT condition Y strap.

This is why I think it is worth such a large sum of money.

I hate drama but I don't appreciate you calling me a "Fool".All I have done is state my opinion on what I think it is worth and backed it up with facts. I have stated the fact that I did not mean to offend you and now you have called me a "Fool".

You question my knowledge when you clearly have little idea as to what you are talking about. I have been doing this for more years than I can count...I don't mean to be an 'old man' here but your comments about things like the breast eagle are laughable at best. You can not even see the bloody breast eagle...yet you are on here telling people that it is original. Please tell me how on earth you can tell that the breast eagle is original period pre May 1945 from THAT photograph.

You tell me how you can 100% tell from THAT picture and I will publicly apologize for calling you a "fool". If you can not...well...then I stand by my comment.

Right well, as rude as that was, and dissapointing to find my one place to enjoy myself there are also bullies here. Please RRCOLLECTOR pay a little more attention when you read these posts; I stated I belive the Eagle is fake not "Original". I do also find your post "Laughable" because you only cared to mention the Breast Eagle.

I am sorry for calling your post "Laughable" how ever such words have been used by you thefore I shall, "Return Fire".

I am finished wasting valuable time on this pointless debate. Please next time approach your situation in a little less of a "Woke up on the wrong side of the bed" Attitude.

So it seems that I got it mixed up...its old age I guess. I would like to know how you and Carl can say that the eagle is a fake. My point here is that you are on here telling people that this is real and that is fake...I'd like to know how you can tell from the photos that were provided. I mean you can only see like 20% of the eagle...

    Nothing more or less....

I really appreciate the much kinder feel to this message (sorry if that sounds like I am mocking you). I believe this breast eagle is fake for a few reasons: 1. It looks like it is in terrific condition which was not normal for these because allied soldiers liked to rip these off "defeated" Germans2.the area that's normally covered by tiny pieces of thread sticking out on the edge is not quite all there (from. What I can see)3. It appears really bright which is not normal for combat worn eagles. Thanks for being nice and I appologise on my false accusation about you being a bully, I hope we can be friends.

    Hi all,

I have been collecting for many years,
but find it difficult to judge from the poor pictures
    Shown here.
There are many books about german uniforms available and also the WAF forum has many tips for reckognizing fakes. It woukd help if you could get some clearer pictures.
