    Bish,
If you're so ashamed of being British, why take the Queen's Shilling in the first place?

Thank you Bish for naming me a hypocrit, I have not been called that before!

I understand you are British? Really? I would suggest that perhaps if you had seen action up at the "Sharp" end, you may just have another opinion. One thing is possible, you can change opinion with the correct information. but one thing is not possible, and that is to change the face of prejudice, You seem to have your fair share of that.

one of the greatest things that those in action need, is comradeship, to be able to trust your mate in the most terrible situations, to know that whatever happens he is not going to let you down....Thank God I never had to depend on you. with your opinions, Heaven knows what you would have done.

I am saddened by your insults, I know that we are elderly old Veterans, now long removed from action. but we still carry the penalty of those actions. Through what we gave our world... Freedom, even the freedom to insult old Veterans. we, that made it possible for you to be on this Earth. That freedom is our gift to you. thank you for your kind words,
    Sapper

Brian, i am a serving soldier in the British army, and have been for 13 years. 6 of which have been on active service. Ulster, Bosnia and recently Iraq. I hold nothing against Iraqi soldiers who fought to defend Saddams regime. They like all soldiers were doing there duty, just as you were in defending our Empire while fighting another. Just as German soldiers were doing there duty, attempting to build there Empire.

So, because i have an opinion, that means i'm going to let guys down when the shit hits the fan. You think soldiers should just follow the herd, keep their mouths shut, do as they are told. Isn't that what allowed the Geremans to do what they did in the first place, keeping quiet. And those freedoms of opinion you fought so hard to give me and my generation were at the same time deninied to many who lived under British rule.

O, and none of my mates have yet died in combat, so i'm doing ok so far thanks.

Should the German army attend the D day 60th anniversary? Not for me, for one thing I was far too badly wounded to go, I am not complaining the freedom experienced now by our people is reward enough.

But there is one thing that those that will be there will have to put up with. Behind every German there will appear behind their shoulders a multitude of grey ghostly figures of those countless millions murdered in the Concentration camps and places like Orador where they burned woman and children alive.

Listen very carefully and intently Bish? and you may just catch the last faint echo of the screams of those women and little children as they burned alive and watched as the flames melted their skin in front of their faces.
    in the Church of Orador.

Or perhaps the screams of innocemts as they struggled for life in the gas ovens!
Sorry! Perhaps I should not remind folk of the horrors of the Nazi regime..But what are we supposed to do? ignor the mass murderers?
Welcome that same people with open arms? Then for Gods Sake someone tell me how am I supposed to do that?

Then also, tell me how I ma supposed to forgive and welcome those that shot our men and the Canadians in cold blood.

Surely! Surely! that would be a betrayel of my departed friends murdered in Normandy.
Wait till I have gone lads... Wait till I have gone.
