    You know the Iranians still have their grounded fleet of Tomcats... and I'd bet they would love to get them flying again.
    When the Ayotollah took control of Iraq and overthrew the pro-western government, Grumman service personnel removed most vital components--to ensure the planes remained grounded--before leaving the country.
    I watched a piece on the History Channel last night--Last Flight of the Tomcat--and all sensitive gear, black boxes, instruments were being removed and inventoried... down to the smallest component prior to putting them in mothballs.
    Iranians won't be seeing any Tomcat-parts on the market anytime soon.
    The Tomcat was quite an aircraft... hard to believe it has been in service for 36yrs. Course being an "Iron Works" fan, I hated to see the last Grumman "Cat" being retired.
