Müller was captured by US forces and given all information about the replacement by Addi's cousin and later worked for CIA intel against the Russians. Addi's sister even had an obit written for her brother upon his demise in Argentina in the 1950's not the 1960's. familiar with Roger Benders publications, note a very old issue two articles with some interesting details about all of this and of course subject to some pretty heavy criticism. I placed the notes on this site years ago....... in Military advisor, you can still pick up the two issues from his reputable firm.

 Nice shot, Gerrard. That one made me laugh.

There is an element of certitude when it comes to "established history" that is difficult to overcome. This is especially true when even the publisher admits that "the reader will have to decide" whether the case has been made in this book. Don't misunderstand me, I remain skeptical and I believe justifiably so. I did a search on Amazon and found your book plus at least 3-4 other books also making similar claims about Hitler's alleged escape. It's all too easy to write this book off as just another attempt at sensationalism by saying "Hitler got away".

Having made that point, I will endeavor to keep an open mind. I cannot promise that I will buy the book, but I will read reviews and critiques of your work and then decide if I want to add it to my personal collection or utilize the local library.

I'd apologize for the harsh treatment, but you had to expect some of that on a forum. That's part of what makes forums fun. Besides, as you alluded to earlier, even unflattering publicity is still publicity. :D

Hi Alan, I'm afraid you'll have to read the book for the daughters' source, a senior Human rights lawyer in Buenos Aires, as for the sinking of U-518 and U-880 -
From the book:

" Lieutenant Commander Gerhard Schotzau’s U-880 had left Bergen on March 14, and the British tracking room plotted its arrival on the line exactly a month later. The U.S. Navy claimed that this boat, too, was “killed” in a joint attack by the destroyers Stanton and Frost on April 15/16, within an hour of the destruction of U-1235. “Several underwater explosions” were assumed to have destroyed the boat, but no wreckage came to the surface or was recovered. Again, U-Boat Command kept transmitting messages to U-880 until April 22.
U-518 was judged by the Admiralty to have joined the Harke patrol line on April 14. The official U.S. Navy description of the loss of this boat was similar to those of the two already described. The Cannon-class destroyers USS Carter and Neal A. Scott claimed the kill on April 22, but again no wreckage came to the surface.

The Royal Navy’s brilliant Captain Rodger Winn, head of the Submarine Tracking Room, highlighted the shaky nature of these claims. [12] With classic British understatement, in a memorandum of May 20, 1945, he said that the outcome of these actions had been “reconsidered in an optimistic light.” The same memorandum implicitly cast some doubt on the U.S. Navy’s claim to have sunk U-530 (First Lieutenant Otto Wermuth). For a confirmed kill, that boat did indeed look surprisingly intact when it surfaced off Mar del Plata, Argentina, and surrendered to the authorities on July 10, 1945. "

[12] “highlighted the shaky nature of these claims”: See D. Syrett, The Battle of the Atlantic and Signals Intelligence; also M. Gannon, Operation Drumbeat—The Dramatic True Story of Germany’s First U-boat Attacks Along the American Coast in World War 2 (New York: Harper Perennial, 1991).
Sir Charles R. N. Winn, CB, OBE, QC (1903–72)—a prewar judge, crippled by childhood polio—made a whole range of probably unparalleled contributions to Allied victory in the “Second Battle of the Atlantic,” but there is no room here for more than the briefest note on his extraordinary career. While still a civilian, he was reassigned from prisoner interrogation to the Submarine Tracking Room (part of the Operational Intelligence Centre), where he quickly mastered the U-boats’ tactics and could frequently predict their actions. Consequently, he was promoted to command the Tracking Room with the temporary rank of commander in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve—unprecedented for someone without formal naval officer’s training. "

Hope this helps, but for further details on "Gruppe Seewulf" , I'm afraid, you'll have to buy the book.

Best Regards
Gerrard

Hi Luftikus, they are from the "Weekly Wolrd News", Not the "News of the World" recently defunct in the UK Murdoch scandal. That mistake would never have got past my editor.
Loved the post 'tho. Shame they never made it into the book.
All the best

I may start collecting these for the paperback back cover, "preposterous fiction" "Another useless piece of garbage." Good to have such considered criticism!

I thought it rather obvious. Yes the "publisher's note". It's still rather lacking in specfics. I did manage to find the publisher in question was Sterling but who actually said it and who stands behind it? Is it anything more than a marketing blurb?

The company stands behind it.
I would have thought that was obvious.

Mr. Williams said:

"But the eyewitnesses, FBI and Cia files plus considerable original research and evidence provide for what we feel is a compelling case."

Well, here are the FBI files:

FBI — Adolf Hitler

The Bureau received many reports of sightings of Hitler after the war. But the G men
did not get their man.

And here is a summary of declassified CIA records:

Records of the Central Intelligence Agency (RG 263

There is no need for me to suggest that Mr. William's book is a work of nonsensical speculation and unsubstantiated conjecture. Others may damn it with faint praise, for the publisher has already done so: "This book raises many intriguing questions, but it does not conclusively settle the issue."

Hey Gerrard, great you have a sense of Humor. Thanx for the Advice i will correct it. I don´t wanted to made your Work look bad. I guess you do put a lot of time consuming research and work in this Book. But as
i already said, for me (German) i will definateley not buy a book telling a Story about a Escape of the Fxxxface called the "Fuehrer". He is dead anyway. And the official Report makes a lot more sense than any sensational Story.
History is sometimes profane. He was just a Human (what is the most appalling Thing) after all.

Dave, have you ever published anything I could rubbish without reading?
Shame you have such a negative and rude approach to the forum. However I hope to prove you wrong about your"Nonsensical speculation and unsubstantiated conjecture." At least you are literate, if close minded.

Gerrard, unlike you, I am interested in facts, stalwart iron facts, which even your publisher has implied are MIA
in this opus.

By the way, other than shilling for your book, you have not contributed anything substantial to this forum.

That's hardly proof that the U-880 wasn't sunk - just that Uboat Command didn't know the encounter had occured, and continued calling her for a week - after she went silent...

Possibly also standard procedure to do so... ;)

Everyone knows Hitler escaped to a secret moon base in Die Glock:) Also Apollo 13 was not a near disaster. All a cover plan so we could drop a secret nuke on the secret Nazi Moon base. :)

it's already gotten out of hand Mike wonder if Gerrad had admins authority to push the rights to his new book on this site ? in any case I go back to my positng all of this has been covered in a more real sense in RJB softbound militaria book/mags - 2 issues that still can be had. the story is very plausible whether believed or not.

He does. While I have not read the book and do not have plans to do so soon, I find the idea that Hitler survived, etc, highly improbable, but am willing to let the OP promote his idea.

I will be moving the thread to Alternative History.

I find it perfectly reasonalbe to allow authors to come here and make a case for thier book(s) as long as they are on topic which this clearly is. However they should realize that making a case may result in some hard questions and be willing to try and answer them this is especially true when the subject/claims are controversial and/or fall into or close to the conspiracy theory catagory. They like the questioners should also keep in mind the adage about "Play the post and not the poster". Even if the latter weren't frowned upon not doing so keeps the conversation on a higher level and makes ones responses at least seem more reasonable. An execelent example of what can happen when people follow the addage can be found at "THE FIFTH PEARL HARBOR MIDGET SUBMARINE": THREAD NO.1 . In that huge thread many were very skeptical initially of the possiblity that a Japanese mini sub was operating in PH at the time of the attack. By the end most seem to have accepted that at least one was and possibly more.

understood Jeff but as Dave rightly brought up we have a co-author pushing an adjenda and that is it, he is not making use of the other threads and responding as a member. I would like to see him use his knowledge elsewhere amongst our home.

lwd I have responded to my own works in the processes over the last 10 plus years on this site as others, I would expect the same of Gerrard

Indeed I would hope for the same. If he doesn't well I suspect it's pretty obvious to most of our readers what's going on. Indeed continueing to push such an agenda without responding to valid questions is going to increase the visiblity of this thread and more than likely have effects that are rather in the opposite direction of what he is hopeing for. It's not like he's the only one on this board pushing an agenda that is very open to question, although he may be the only author doing so.

By the same token the issues that Dave brought up are also quite reasonable.
