I have attached a photo of my sister-in-law's grandmother wearing some sort of a uniformed cape. The date is unknown but it is thought to be from the WWII era and it is a continental USA location. Next to the photo of her I have enlarged the pin on the cape. Even with the limited quality I think you can tell that it is an eagle over a star over a stripe. On her collar are what appear to be four or five stars. Just below that is what I think are two buttons for the cape but they could be insignia. After extensive searching of women's military branches (WAC, WAAC, WAVES, WASP, etc) I don't think that the cape is part of a women's US military uniform but I could still be wrong. I know that during that time there were many military support organizations and so I suppose it could be from one of those. Any ideas?
Looks like she was a "WAVES" Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service http://womenofwwii.com/navywaves.html
