But we'd also had a similar treaty with Czechoslovakia. Hitler was counting on us to simply fold all over again.

If Hitler was me,he would have stopped at Czech and consolidated his gains while waiting for the inevitable Russian push to the West. Therefore, gaining popular cause and a pretext for going to war supported by the Allies.

    But alas,he is not me.

    an other nice mistakes:
oh, i kill my best generals because they might going to kill me (okay, that was true)
or: i fire my best generals because they lost a battle
or: i promote Paulus to field marchel because never in history had a geman fieldmarshall had to surrender. so paulus will win the battle because he is a field marshall and i have to do nothing
or: no u boats, i want big ships
or: no rockets because i'm not impressed about they cappabilities (witch ment that the V2 was on hold for at least a year)
or: i take forces from the collapsing eastern front to attack the americans and take antwerps while my forces on the italian front have nothing to do

is there something that this guy did right??

He was apparently a very good master to Blondi, his dog...

Right up until he poisoned him, that is.

typicly for a person like hitler, very bad in social contacts with people but with dogs that wasn't a problem.

don't forget eva braun. he finaly married her and then he forced her to also commit suicide. is this a form of "until death do us part"?

Yes, they are the ultimate example for why not to get married -
within 24 hours of marrying each other they both committed suicide!

marriage is a deathfull thing :D

it seems the everything hilter married ended up death. he once said to eva braun (when she was nagging again about marriage) "i'm married to germany". okay, it took six years to finish germany but hey, it's a big country

i think this was his 1st mistake...he was sure that britain and france would not go to war with germany over poland regardless of franco british ultimatums to the contary..and it is well known that he was physically shaken by the news of the british ambassador's note from the british govt requesting germany to withdraw its troops from poland or face a declaration of war.

"Wasserfall" was a rocket anti-aircraft defence weapon. It would have done more for the Germans than launching a few explosives at London at huge expense, but that can only be said with the benefit of hindsight; back then it was not yet sufficiently clear that the morale effect of strategic bombing is negligible.

Most of the weapons Hitler could have introduced earlier were not because they simply weren't regarded as necessary. This may seem stupid in hindsight but it is less so when you're at the head of an undefeated country (which Hitler was, for a while).

Operation Herkules was the proposed invasion of Malta - the British stronghold in the Med that enabled them to maintain a useful prescence there.
