Once again in full agreement. I would be fine if instead of trying to justify this action over that action they simply say this,

"We are here to kill Al Qaeda". "We will continue to stay here until we have killed Al Qaeda and convinced those who give them sanctuary such as the Taliban it is not in their best interest to associate with Al Qeada". "Once we are confident that what little we allow to exist are no longer a threat to our Country and our Citizens we will leave".

Comments about the treatment of women, not allowing children the safe passage to schools and other 'Humanitarian' essays I view as asides in an attempt to garner support from the various oppositional groups. Not that these are not important asides, they are and we have enabled many who would never had had the opportunity.

How did this get in stump when we are all in agreement....Never mind...

No I agree...this is getting too painfull...I got to stop agreeing....UK and USA have approached these two wars...Afghanistan and Iraq in similar but different ways...

We over this side or at least some of us...wanted answers to questions before things got out of control which were never forthcoming....On Iraq...wmd was more important to us than the States as a reason for invasion...USA never hid from the idea of regime change....thats ok...but we here never got into that...we were told and impressed that that was not the reason and we would not invade for that reason...it was PURELY wmd...Lied to by spivs...Not yours...our own...But that is not the reason or a reason for USA not to do what they did. I just dont like being lied to by my own...Especially when I threw my own shoe at tv when Blair appeared telling me on tv that wmd could be launched in minutes when we knew the systems he was talking about were fuel filled and time taken would mean he was talking about tech the Iraqi's just did not have....Intelligence agencies here knew that and shouted it out loud to no avail. USA reasons were different.

On Afghanistan the intial invasion and warlords etc march to Kabul was a necessary action in response to something that needed not just avenging but needed sorting...Where we part over here with USA is on 2 issues...One the moving of priorities to Iraq and not finishing Afghnistatan...but not even that...My own gripe is with the story we get not from you in USA but again from our own betters and leaders that part of the reason is the female angle...Our soldiers are dying to bring freedom to Afghanistan..so women can be free to chose, decide their own fate, burka or not...British soldiers actually have been quoted as giving that reason for justifyiing their presencse there....We have lost count of times told by spiv shiesters that are far from Churchills or Allenbrookes that our soldier are dying so the Taliban cannot treat women the way they do...And surprise surprise...Todays
Afghan govt do little different and never have or expected to do any different to what the do to women there today. I object to being lied to..I am far from naive...but I do expect to be able to express my opinion on this in my own country without the buggerence we get for doing so by the mainstream over here...This country ..Britain is a nation that has a reputation and history to be proud of in the main with a resistance that is unfathomable by others when we come together in dire times....We have a long history that has been litterally stepped on by the leaders of the past 20 years. But again, thats our problem I'm not having a go at USA, I have enough problems having a go at my own bunch of spivs.

One of our National Guard units came home yesterday, an MP company. They arrived to a big reception from family, friends and the Governor. Hopefully they won't be going back anytime soon. I think that all of our guard units are back in Louisiana now. There are a few small reserve units based here that are still deployed but that's about it. A good friend of mine retired from the US Marshals and took a job with the "private contractors" and is now in Iraq. Hope he makes it out of his assignment ok.

I've been waiting a long time to be able to do this!

U.S. and Kuwaiti troops unite to close the gate between Kuwait and Iraq after the last military convoys passed through, Dec. 18, 2011, signaling the end of Operation New Dawn. Despite the final battalions' departure, the U.S. will continue to build and strengthen a mutually-beneficial partnership with Iraq.
