Easy there, I'm not holding you responsible for anything. So I should have had to address my comments to Adolf but as he's unavailable at the moment you had to take the flak instead :D

Ahh, timing is extremely important for this utterance. So he said it when it was all already lost. I was under the impression (wrongly) that you meant some earler occasion, but in the Last Days (and before that) Adolf said anything except that at least part of the fault was also his.

    ------

Again, I'm not by any means trying to be hostile to you!

Bring out your subjects and support them with good arguments. That will then create discusions which will then be interesting. That's what we all are here for, to have interesting discussions on WW2 ;)

The worst thing that a beginner (or an old-timer!) can do is blurt out some silliness and then be unable to provide arguments, sources, contexts, etc.

So please don't feel annoyed at me, consider it a misunderstanding and water under the bridge.

    Cheers!

My first post, well here goes.

Gee this is a real hard one to have a go at.

I believe Germany's first mistake was to allow the escape of the B.E.F. Then not issuing France with an unconditional surrender and with that immidiate seizure of the French Fleet. Then with France out of the way and Britain reeling with the loss of so many men and valuable equipment launch an invasion of Britain. Before anyone has a chance to comment on the latter, i will say that Operation Seelowe would be expensive but with Britain out of the picture any future US involvement in Europe would make it harder without Britain as a base.

I'll see what other stuff i can come up with in this post.

I agree that Operation Seelowe was never really intended to take place, but say it did and was successful (although very costly). Under German rule or at least a pro German puppet government and monarch, that would have aleviated the headache of Germany having to worry about a second front if Operation Barbaross went ahead. And yes i know this isn't perfect but think about the consequences of Britain out of the war by late 1940 or early 1941.
