Always nice to have the 12th member who joined come back in action on the site!

Google was founded late 1998 and wasn't a major force until 2003, so its more likely you used Altavista or Dogpile back then.

You know, I've been a member (though not very active in the last few years) for slightly more than half my life on here. Based on the year, I would have been on AOL ((*gasp*)) back in 2000, so whatever search function they used would have most likely been how I found the Forum. I believe (looking at all my posts only goes back to 2007, so I can't see my entire posting history, unless I am being silly and am missing something) I would have searched for a WW2 Forum to find out more about Rommel/LRDG and the North African Campaign - I recall playing a PBEM WW2 game back then, where I was in charge of Rommel's forces in North Africa and, at the time, basically had no idea what the historical outcome (let alone much, if anything, about WW2) was, so came looking for answers.

Maybe AOL needs to be added to the poll

This is the earliest post I found, but there may be earlier ones. It's from September of 2000:

Yeah, we've been here longer that most message boards on the Internet, and certainly longer than any WW2 discussion forum. I must say I'm a smidge proud of that.

Wow! I just realized I've been a member for seven years. Obviously, I wasn't here at the beginning, but seven years...

Was computer (even more) illiterate then. Had a couple computers that died, couldn't figure out email/ passwords, wife took last computer, and you guys were kind enough to transfer my count/salute numbers if i recall...it might be embarrassing to see some (more) of my early incompetence's here. Think was cooler'd for immaturity. Was probably around 35 at that time, so not much has changed other than my old ass.

Don't know if its a burden on the site for peeps to dig back into the old posts.
The really early stuff, has some searing commentary.

Cooler time is a badge of honor. One of the many things I hate about our current software was that I was unable to publicly assign people to the "Cooler" as we did previously. I cannot wait to move on. Up to you about the merge, just let me know.

No burden, accessing a post 10 minutes old is the same as accessing one that's 10 years old in a database like this one.

I take great pride in my "cooler" time. Ah, how time fly's lol.

Can't believe it's been a while decade and yet I'm still the "Farm boy" running about. ;)

Formerjugghead is undoubtedly the Cooler King around here. The old pre-2012 software used to keep track of Cooler time in a member's profile, and we could see his long list of malfeasance. Everyone got a reprieve when the Cooler records were wiped in the server migration of 2012, but all the old Rogues know who the Cooler King was.
