How does Rommel/Patton influence the US Military today?

As the question states, how does Rommel and/or Patton influence the US Military today. I heard in a documentary about the Gulf War that Rommel is very influential to US Armored Divisions. I never heard Patton was, but I'm asking about him as well just in case. Anyway, what MADE these leaders great? What I mean is, what tactics did they use, that the US Military today uses. Thank you.
