the sad modern legacy of those actions so many years ago, I am curious about the ammo dup that was found in SE Aachen becuase this is the area that the 16th was fighting the 3 PnzGren and 116 Pnzr in sep oct 44 The 81 mm transpo cartons and such H co had 4 of them, and 4 1917 water cooled, that would leave allot of brass and the little metal end caps, the belts would have been cloth I made contact with a digger from north Aachen but sadly oculdnt do a return trip from Normandy..
I just called my contact in Aachen we are going to plan an dig sometime I want to explore the area of Elindorf where they were pretty much stationary for 6 weeks protecting the flank of the 1st Divisons attack on the City itself, I was there in May/jun and found it to be a very beautiful city you could still see the signs of battle there and I even foud a few destroyed buildings in various places man I would love to spend a month there just doing digs and research....
Hello all, I am new on this forum, I was on an other forum but it closed. Aru-Ed was also on that forum. I have been relic hunting for 2 years now in the German woods and I found lots of stuff but nothing big. I have some new maps and info about the German woods, so if anybody want to join me, let me know. I asked Aru-Ed once to go with him, but he has his own relic hunt team so I look for other crazy relic fanatics like me. The things I found: German Belt buckle, lots of ammunition small and bigger, an ammunituin box, a small SA pin, a piece of a German gasmask(same as Aru-Ed), several coins, lots of pieces of US webbing, pieces of K-rations, batteries etc etc. I hope this year will bring me bigger stuff. Bye all, Relic hunting
Doing my own Michigan-scale version of relic hunting like I do (Old lumber camps, mill sites, looking at maps overlaying from the early 1800's to the 1950's to find the roads to the camps) I sure do envy you guys. Thanks for sharing all of your finds with us.
