hey guys, it's been over 4 months and only 10 members have posted their photo, we have 184 member, so please do not be shy
This using other languages has gone a bit too far lately; this is still an international forum. Please speak English or translate in the same post if you feel the effect of the other language is better.
Re: post subject Pleased to meet you Merlin! Glad to see l'm not the only old codger in this forum!! hahahaha!
Good to see you Merlin! And I must say that nothing is quite so good to an older man's appearance as a veteran suit & attributes!
Great to see you merlin!! Tell me, I never understood what that red decoration meant. It looks like a flower and all the British politicians in the news wear it. Can you shed any light on this please?
it's a poppy because in ww1 the shells desturbied the dormant poppy seeds and there are poppy field in many of the ww1 battlefield
post subject Thanks for interest shown in the "Flanders Poppy", if you look closely at the photo you may notice a sprig of greenery behind the poppy, this is "Rosemary", a herb that signifies rememberance.
I will post a photo of me as soon as I can locate a reasonably good one and then figure out how to post it here. I don't have a scanner (or a computer, for that matter...), and it costs money to use the library scanner. Plus, the library's computer center has been going down a lot lately and they can't figure out why; this is the reason my attendance in this forum has been so spotty lately, along with the holidays.
I'm sorry to hear that corp! The problem is, the magic of scanners is that one can scan a picture and put it on one's computer harddrive. I don't think that is possible in a public library, since they usually have rules about saving files making it impossible. Aren't you on the internet somewhere, corp? Like, wiht your reenactment group or something?
If you mean, is there a picture of me in my unit's web site, there may be one there, once the site is up and running. My commanding officer has said that it's almost ready. Once it is, I'll check it out and let y'all know if there is one. Be advised, however, that we tend to go for Civil War-style photos: they will mostly be black and white group pictures, and none of us will be smiling.
