    hi guys!!!
    i'm back
i just needed to replace the ethernet card but sadly the monitor is gone,
other than that everything is ok

the cause of the damage was that my daughter was on the net during the storm and a lighting struck very close to the house and that fry my pc and monitor.

p.p. no damage to my models

That happens to a lot of folks. Lightning keeps electronics companies in business. At least it didn't damage your home and nobody was hurt.

Surge protectors don't always work with lightning strikes. They are primarily used to prevent voltage spikes from the power utility from reaching the unit. What is needed is a lightning arrestor. These are installed by the power company. Basically, they melt when lightning hits the power line and prevents voltage from passing through, much like a giant fuse but faster. The speed of the lightning is why surge protectors don't always work. Drawback is that you will not have power until the arrestor is replaced but that's sometimes better than lightning damage.
