    I agree with Roel.Other than this I would guess it has something to do with serial numbers.

    The cross-hatching on the butt plate?

    The number of screws holding the butt plate to the stock?

    The shape of the butt plate?

    I mean, what else can you do with a butt plate? (Hush, Roxy! :) )
