Hang on, the Dutch did not attack the French, or surrender to them, but it was something worse than surrendering to them...
Did they take the French troops prisoner?

    Not that either.

Let me give you a very telling hint.
Who ever mentioned any Dutch soldiers?

The French troops were ravished by the 'Dutch National Gay Marijuana-Smoking Nudist Association' ?

The Dutch civilians threw stones at the French?

The Dutch civilans surrendered to the French?

(my next guess would have been that the Dutch soldiers had booby-trapped their trenches!)

The Dutch soldiers went for a smoke, coffee and pefferjes (no dutch soldiers around, the germans enter the Dutch positions (no rude thoughts) the French arrive and say being good Dutch speakers
    'wij zijn hier'.
    The Germans reply
    'Was?'.
    The French reply with
    'Merde'

The Dutch finish their smoke break and return only to surrender.

Maybe I should stretch this a bit more, your suggestions are getting more hilarious by the post! :D

Closest so far was Ricky's third suggestion: :D

Anti-French slogans painted on the positions?
With a big bullseye painted on so the Germans knew who to bomb?
    :D

Ah, I think I may have it.

The Dutch failed to tell the French where their minefield was, and they walked into it.

    Right.

When the French troops arrived the positions were empty. The Dutch troops had fled even before the Germans appeared over the horizon. Moreover, they had left all their rifles behind, and according the legend the French troops found themselves tripping over them!

Excellent, another Roel question. I wonder if we can solve it in less than three pages! :D

Ok, since Roel has not posted a new question...

During the Blitz in London, a female 'artist' performed the 'Dance of the Seven Veils'.
However, she had to stop performing this rather rude ( ;) ) act.

    Why?

    Sorry, badly worded question...

She had to stop for good, never to perform it again.

And no, it was not prudish authority banning it!
