the last two postings just go back to when we were struggling in Nam/Cambodia and another hot spot back in the 60's and 70's and in fact almost word for word, the names have changed the politicians - the stooges were in control supposed as representors of the US populace which they were not. Maybe the change back in my time was that many of us were total screw up with "pot" at our finger tips, and the higher ups were easy prey for a bullet in the back..............yes the stories you have heard over the years was true

ladies/gents if had nbot been Bush/Blair it would of been someone else as the mid-east was going to blow at any time in any given area, we saw this back in the late 70's when we gave a presence in Israel and Saudi Arabia on a much wider scale and more than just in the administration duties though everything was hush hush and still is ........ dang I look good in dark shades

Now, I know why you are somtimes called the old sage Erich ! The middle East maybe, however Iraq already had its ass kicked in 1991 and it was in no position to attack its neigbours again. On the contrary a weak Iraq has allowed Iran to get a bigger mouth and by focussing on Iraq , Iran has gained precious time in the nuke race. This could be a nice "what if".

    :D Skipper ........

I wonder with all the dope we had in the 60/70's era if we could fly that over and drop that on Tehran and the bordering towns if ............ ?

nah it would probably be seen as a message from the almighty

actually both Iraq/Iran smacked themselves in their right to own each others lands, and of course we know how long this has been goin on. also it is quite easy to see that neighboring dictator wants in a big hurry his rightful place to connect both Iraq and Iran into a joint union with him as prime headship. If we as the Allied co-alition leave you can bet Iran will move in, terminate the trained or what is trained of the Iraq militaria and also Syria will want a piece of the action - land due to the backing of insurgents or thugs into Iraq to keep us looking to the west

on it goes with most likely no end in sight. we are there stuck

Unless Iran is called to reason. But how? Then Syria would think twice, but now Putin is playing a sly double game.... so yes , I think this is getting a quite hopeless mess.

and I just heard that the Syrians admitted in a sna-fu that the Israelis did catch them with a Nuke set-up

I think wicked winter needs to arrive early and dump a load on the mid-east just to liven things up more...........it appears that our Crater lake roads are now snow covered, and dang it no riding up there right now

Well maybe I should back up my favourite Texan then, however this thread without a bullet proof jacket is not the one I prefer, but at least it shows who you can have a serious discussion with and who'se wearing a mask. I'll see how things go.
In the meantime oil prices have beaten another record at over 89$

Slowly marching on. These are the pictures of Turkish soldiers patrolling the border. My uncle who is a Chief Warrant Officer is being moved to the east of the country for three months, he says his assignment has nothing to do with the situation but I don't believe him.
I wish Iraq and U.S. would understand the importance of the situation for Turks earlier. There is also such a high public pressure here that government had to do something about it.

That is unlikely Erich. I think there are over one million soldiers in the army now. It won't be necessary if we don't get in war with Iraq or U.S. or both.

;-)) Thank you Skipper, I appreciate those kind words. Heh heh, I used to have to wear a bullet-proof vest as part of my equipment fro my Correctional Officers job. Strange as it might seem that guards working inside a prison - should have to wear these. However, one never can tell what kind a weapon an inmate has (i.e) spear gun, blow gun, even a bow and arrows. But you correct on this topic and with these people here ;-))

$89.00 a barrel (SIGH) I think were all in for some very expensive times ahead.

Yes Erich it seems to have started, the nation is at shock. There are people on the streets protesting, this incident is now being discussed on every TV channel, music shows are replaced with historic movies.

And to make things clear the issue is not with Kurds it is with the PKK. And they claim they have 10 Turkish soldiers captured. They are trying hard to pull us to the other side of the border. I think they are on to something.

The worst thing is Iraq President Talabani does not acknowledge that PKK is a terrorist organization and they won't do anything to arrest its leaders. Whoever I talk to agrees that we should cross the border, even if it takes to fight with local Iraqi forces. I don't think American soldiers will be shooting at ours.

well maybe and it is just a maybe we will pop the PKK. I for one personally feel all this inter-terror religious cause(s) is all related from Afghan, Iraq, Iran Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, etc.

Well 10 Turkish solider skilled yesterday and 32 Pkk members and the Turks are about to kick ass. I was first surprised to hear that Syria supports Turkey, which after all doesn't seems logical because they have a kurd minority too.
