When the headline uses the terms "reportedly" and "may", I get suspicious. I hope they're right, but I'll await more definitve results. (At least they didn't inlude aliens.)
Couldn't agree more, Lou. I qualified my comment with the word "If" because so far they've only identified shapes in a photo that look as if they could be parts of a plane. The article said they intend to attempt a recovery of the items. It will be some time before that can happen, so I intend to remain firmly uncommitted on the issue.
Ya know, there were a lot of WAVES/WAAFs who talked their way onto a plane ride to whatever remote island they were heading to for duty, and there's bound to be one or two or more that were lost at sea or never made their destinations. Much as I'd love to find out what happened to Mrs. Earhart, I don't think that the presence of the wreckage nor the facial cream bottle are conclusive of anything other than that the researchers are not the first Westerners on that atoll. Some mysteries just don't want to be solved.
