JS Tanks and the Western Response

    true but my point is it could not be m62 apcbc. If that were the case it would make the js tanks armour weaker than a panthers.

    The BHN in Soviet vehicles from 1942 on is over 300, sometimes a whoppin' 420. That's prone to all sorts of failures.

    good point.
    lorrin bird mentions something about about a 24% defeciency when compared to british armour.

    I also heard from several sources that if you go over 300 BHN, your armor becomes too brittle to be very effective.

    to qoute lorrin, he says its from 350-400 depending on the quality of the manufacture.
    Of course bhn of any number can have flaws.

    of course against uncapped ap rounds, brittle armour can be good.

    M103

    Whatever its other talents, the M103 has very poor ballistic shaping and a lot of shot traps. As for that big turret bustle, well any infantryman that could get close enough with a sticky bomb or a satchel charge would have had that turret off PDQ !
