I love the last one with the guy with the Edelweiss making faces. Is the He111 from a Erkennungs Unit based in Norway ?

 

As far as I know the pics should be for Norway/Trondheim 1940 but there might as well be some pics mixed in there from other time periods. It seems to me in some albums there are actually pics from very different time periods mixed perhaps because there was some space in the middle of the album....

 

Got some info for you Kai.

The Lion shield belongs to KG26 Kampfliegergeschwader 26 "Löwen" (motto Vestigium Leonis) = the Lion Squadron.
They had this symbol from 1939 to 1942. (Source: Luftwaffen Emblemen by Ketley and Rolfe)

Here is another confirmation that shows that KG26 took part in the attack of Norway in 1940

yes Kai it appears the album at least goes from 1940 through 1942 so far. one of the arlier pics of today several of the Zerstörers covering and aiding the Tirpitz along the Norwegian fjords. also note one of the Theodor Reidel in the dazzle camo and the photographer may off the Tirpitz but one of the single barrels of the heavier guns is also striped camo too.

Gads great pics again Kai more from the TR album. is that Becks bier those chaps are drinking..............too bad. and white uni's worn in the winter in the Northern waters. you first pics am going to assume again the TR and another Destroyer plus a separate pic of an escort vessel with a single rearward 8.8cm mount no shield.
a couple of great portraits one with the destroyerbadge, bootsman patch on his sleeve and gunners patch in red on dark blue thus : operating larger weapons 8.8/10.5cm on up

more great pics Kai, neat pic in your first selection of today showing the sailor plus the 3 A/C claims on the tower plus 2cm Flakvierling : in this case an earlier unshielded MG C/38 on a 38/43 U mounting. this had dual chairs right behind the gun. time period at least beyond 1942 +, so again the appearance of more than 1940 photos in your collection.

 

Did you buy the collection? Good stuff!

Some of those should be willed to the museum... IMHO.
