Their mistake, not ours. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-soldiers-friendly-fire-death-a-case-of-mistaken-identity-by-kurds-investigations Will stick with my fervent/fanatic view. The Kurds are just as ass backwards as the rest of that region. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Not a great basis to form a relationship. Just my 2 cents.
An interesting article on Turkey: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2015/05/27/267925/turkey-and-the-islamic-state-clash.html# Seems fairly even handed.
Kurds on the advance in Syria: http://news.yahoo.com/kurdish-fighters-syria-march-against-militants-193120789.html
Per the article "The YPG doesn't lack a will to fight, like soldiers in the Syrian army, or soldiers in the Iraqi army who mostly fight for a salary," and "The YPG is quite ideological, while the Syrian and Iraqi army aren't very well motivated,". Soldiers who fight- not for a living wage, but for ideas - these are the people we are allied with. What exactly is their "ideology".
Nationalism. They want a country where the Arabs and Turks won't kick them around. Politically, there's a lefty wing and another group that wants to establish a republic based on the Swiss system, with fairly independent cantons under a lax central government.
So there are two factions of Kurds, one is extremish, and the other is more West friendly. (dejaview all over again)...sorry, just trying to catch up on this. edit: clarity?
Just one faction really; nationalists. The type of government to be established is beyond the horizon right now, it's just theoretical. They need a country first. Either way, socialist or not, they'd be much more western-friendly than anybody else in the region simply because they don't give a crap about religion. Kurds are Muslim, Yazidi (Zoroastrian), Christian, Atheist and even Jewish and they all get along, because they are Kurds. It's an ethnic and language group, not a religion.
Here's a Yazidi girl heading for the Kurdish lines. The Kurds are protecting anybody who can make it. The Iraqis have abandoned them.
Eggzackly! The old Kurdistan was northern Iraq and Syria, and part of eastern Turkey. I'd say give them all their former land in Syria and Iraq, and if Turkey keeps swinging Jihadi support them in taking that land back as well. The Syria and Iraq land is kind of a no-brainer. Those nations don't exist any more so it's either support the Kurds or let the Jihadis massacre everybody.

This one: http://www.strategypage.com/qnd/syria/articles/20150625.aspx also goes into issues with the Druze as well. I haven't seen them mentioned much in most of the media but another minority group in a rather precarious position.
After their attack on our soldiers (Canada), not feeling a lot of love towards the Kurds. Are the Kurds and Isis allies? - Gordon Duff Liveleak http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ac1_1435340610 Are there really Kurdish gains against isis? What proof could anyone here offer.
Well, the fact that they are killing thousands of ISIS fighters might tip you off that they aren't pals. And the constant rape, torture and beheadings of Kurdish men, women and children would be another clue. This 57 year old Canadian has joined the Kurds.
Cool. I have problems getting out of bed to go to work, let alone fight a war. That guy has my respect.
He has my respect as well. Unfortunately many more of such guys are needed. Unless something is done soon, I see Iraq being swallowed up along with most of Syria and possibly Lebanon....
http://news.yahoo.com/texas-plumber-sues-dealer-company-pickup-appears-syria-203143100.html US Plumber sues that his truck and logo ended up in Syria....through Turkey..what's your thoughts on this?? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2876735/How-plumber-s-truck-Texas-ended-hands-Islamic-fighters-lines-Syria.html
The Daily Fail one is hilarious...Thinking that the truck was photoshopped in. The only thing that is the same in the two photographs is that they were taken in the same location, but not the same exact spot. However, the trucks are different. The camera angle is different, the guns are different, the sky is different. If, and that is a big IF, the plumbing truck was photoshopped, it was not done with the still photograph the Daily Fail shows. As the background scenery does not exactly match up(because of the slightly different camera angles). Close, but not an exact match.
I'm not surprised. I saw the truck in another story on my Facebook feed that showed a short video clip - definitely a Ford F250 with his logo and phone number. Of course all the ISIS supplies are pouring in through Turkey.
