It's not a perfect one but I did my best. I will be going home this week for Thanksgiving and I might get a chance to see Mr. Geiser. If I do I get a chance to see him I plan on presenting him this sketch that I did for him and his family. If I am unable to, then I will make sure my dad is able to give this sketch to him. This man has been a blessing in my life, and I've been honored to bless him as well in his last years by finding the name of the camp that his unit liberated. Now in his last days I want to do one more thing for him by giving this sketch to him and his family.

    Cheers ,
    Dave

Thanks Poppy ;). I started doing sketches earlier this month so I haven't been able to show Mr. Geiser or a lot of other people any of my work yet. Regarding my work including the one I posted I have made 17 sketches since earlier this month. Most are historical figures including one of E.B. Sledge. I do hope to give Mr. Geiser the sketch I posted earlier when I go home this week.

    Cheers ,
    Dave

As a sign of thanks and in honor of Thanksgiving I gave the sketch that I made of Eddie to him yesterday. He really really loved it and much like the day that I presented the document detailing the camp that his unit liberated, seeing him shed tears of joy at being given the sketch is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever felt. "It looks just like me!" Is what he said. I am so honored and blessed to know this great and honorable man!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone including all of our veterans!

    Cheers To All ,

    Update:
I have just been informed by my dad that Mr. Geiser is expected to pass soon, possibly today. He is currently in the hospital with his family.
It's news that is still taking a hard time to swallow.

David, thank you for letting us know about Mr. Geiser's health status. It is good that his family can be with him at this time. As Jeff mentioned, you have been a good friend and have done so much to help him tell his story. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Geiser and his family, and also you.

    I just got another update:
From my dad: "Mr. Geiser has not passed yet. The family is weighing hospice options right now..." They are also considering whether he can return to the senior living center that he has been living in which is the place my dad works at so that he can spend his final hours there.

Thank you very much for all of your prayers and kind words. Mr. Geiser and his story will always have a lasting impact on me and I will always remember that. And although it will be a sad day when he does pass on, he will go as a humble and heroic man who served his country in the most honorable way.

If any updates come my way, I will post it as soon as I get them.

    Cheers to all ,
    Dave

Felt a little sad that I wasn't in Northern Kentucky for the funeral today. My dad was able to go though and said it was a nice one and that he got the proper burial. I have a pin that is the 63rd Division Insignia and will be wearing it all week.

    Cheers ,

I apologize that I haven't been around more often. It has been a while since I have been on here. Times have been getting busier unfortunately. A while back I did a sketch of Mr. Geiser during his service days. I was happy with it and so was he and his family. However since I gave that one to his family, I decided to make one more with some minor improvements including the 63rd Infantry Division insignia. I continue to be and always will be grateful for the impact that this man had on me and his story that he shared with me.

    Cheers ,
    Dave

I was able to visit the cemetery where Mr. Geiser is buried today. A fitting end to an amazing life.

    Cheers ,
    Dave

Note: On his stone there is a design of a rosary which is also a very fitting design for him as my family initially got to know him for fixing rosaries including my dad's rosary.
