    Aye, thats the turkey....

The book lists every one of these films, in detail, and showing the box office reciepts and whether the various projects made money. Great book, lots of laughs...

Ouch! What'd I ever do to you??? LOL Actually, I'm firmly on the "Team vanHelsing" side. But honestly, I actually respect Stephanie Meyers for what she's done. An author is required to know their target audience, and what they want. Stephanie Meyers most certainly nailed her target audience. I'm also most certainly NOT a part of that demographic.

And admit it...you KNOW you had pre-screening tickets to see "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter".

I am anxious to see this movie....especially knowing that Sally Fields made such an effort to play the part of Mary.....no one can research and achieve a character quite like her as we have seen so many times in her movies. With the part of Mary played well it sets a tone for the likelihood that the rest of the cast will rise to the challenge with the characters of the people we so cherish from our history and what they went through and accomplished. Perhaps it will tease our minds to realize what we lost to his assassin that could have been important leadership in the post civil war years where there was so much turmoil, and suffering for a number of years as recovery after this great war was suffered by the populace.

I'll just have to wait for it to go to cable. Last time I was in a theater was just after Saving Private Ryan came out.
Clementine, have you ever made the trip to Lincoln, Illinois? We were there about six years ago and it was kind of humbling to walk the streets Mr Lincoln walked. There are many small towns within an hours drive of where we use to live to 'walk in his footsteps' and you always come away with a sense of "I wonder what it would have been like to see the debates". Many go to New Salem and Springfield but places like Carthage & Lincoln, Illinois really leave an impression too.

I'll go and give it an objective look even if he was el jefe of the yankees, after "Red Dawn" of course. I enjoyed the original RD when it came out in the theaters long ago.

    "Wolverines"!!!!

I may put them on my list of places to visit, Biak. I've been to Springfield & toured the museum, tomb, and Lincoln home. Also stopped by the "Field of Dreams" in Dyersville, IA on the way. I still have a small ear of corn from center field. :D

I don't care to see the Twilight movies myself, guess that's why I found the thought of RabidAlien surrounded by giggling hords of "tween" girls ooohing and aaaahing over the latest movie so funny and just had to give him a hard time.

I wouldn't know about Baywatch, but I have watched Masterpiece Theatre.

    Yes, I think you would!

Yes, Meyers was brilliant in her success. And I appreciate the fact she took an old story, or myth, and created something new and, apparently, plausible to so many people. I am not much on vampire stories, Bela Lugosi movies are about the extent of my interest in vampires - but you can't argue with her success.

Didn't know you knew I bought tickets to that movie - I felt it was my duty to try to keep other hapless souls from going to see it....I am just kidding, I couldn't even mention the name of the movie without shaking my head. Some things you just shouldn't ever do, and making Lincoln out to be a vampire hunter is one of them.... :)

:hangs head in shame: Stopped by the RedBox (vending-machine movie rentals, for those not in the US) tonight, and at the wife's request (let me repeat...AT THE WIFE'S REQUEST) picked up "Expendables2" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". I'm not sure exactly how far I'll be able to suspend my disbelief, but the whole way home I kept repeating to myself that "its just a brainless action movie....brainless action movie...". Now my 3-year-old daughter thinks I'm crazy and talk to myself. *sigh* She wasn't supposed to figure that out for another couple of years.

I enjoyed "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter" very much. There's nothing wrong with a bit of fun, even when it's in a historical context. The director is a Russian named Timur Bekmanbetov (google him) who has done a number of action films, all with a bit of sly humor to show he doesn't take himself too seriously. Watch his movie "Wanted" with Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy for a shoot-em-up with a lot of very funny scenes.
