I am working on another book, and am trying to find out as much as I can about the Salzburg - Mauterndorf area in mid-summer 1944. I know the Allied invasion of Italy allowed bombing to begin using Foggia as a base, and until mid summer the area was fairly safe from it, but would love to read anything anyone has, or hear about their experiences visiting there. I would really like to hear about visits to Festung Hohensalzburg, or alternately, Burg Mauterndorf, Goering's home. I would like to visit Austria, and particularly Vienna and Salzburg at some point, but simply can't afford it right now. The other thing I would like to hear about is the Skoda werkes in Pilsen. If anyone has any obscure information I would deeply appreciate it. What I'd really like are things like the floorplan of Burg Mauterndorf or Fortress Hohensalzburg if anyone has any info like that. Any and all info would be deeply appreciated!
