Thanks The_Historian but I just ordered a paper and iPad copy of the magazine above. I will take a look
World War II History Magazine is a great read with nice collection of published authors. Unfortunately, the service is terrible. I remember getting charged (or rather my wife did 3x for same subscription ) I still subscribe even though the business side needs better functionality. The quality of the articles are worth the headache.
When I started this thread about two years ago, I followed the advice of this members forum and I decided to subscribe to World War II History Magazine. I sent my info by email, because they said that I would receive one free copy that I don't have to pay and if I like it, I have to subscribe. I waited for my copies about two months. Never received it so I sent another request with my adress again. I waited for about two months again. Still no magazine. Finally, I received a letter from this company saying that I have received their magazine already and that I have to pay. I put it in the garbage. I received in total, about three or four letters like this. Then, I received another one but this time they said that if I don't pay my due, they are going to sue me. I called them and talked about the problem and finally they agreed to let me go. I never subscribed to this magazine and I don't think I will unless they completely change their customer service that is completely rotten.
Ugh. I remember receiving those letters as well. I immediately handed them to my wife (lol, it was a gift from her) and she haggle over the phone. I just don't know how they stay in business. It has to be the quality of product.
I know its not really what your asking....but at memorabilia expo's and gun shows etc...I pick up 'Signal' magazine...from wartime Europe the stories are all completely 'nazified'and the advertisements are so interesting(I have one that is a full page ad for stuka's from the junkers aircraft company)...amazing
original?? I had a book with pages from Signal....yes, the enemy's period writings are amazing....they are not as ''common''
Original...oh very much so...yellowed and so flimsy...the age is obvious...I only have a dozen or so...I was surprised at how popular the hobby of color photography was...so many adverts by agfa and carl zeiss etc...
And signal had pinup girls...very very tame but it was the 40's...pretty girls at the beach...another example of Goebbels subtle propaganda. .stories of nature and cinema mixed with 'victory in the east'...haha
Hi! I am now very satisfied with the World War II magazine. Thanks for your help. For me, the discussion is closed. http://www.historynet.com/worldwar2
I haven't seen this magazine mentioned... America in WWII. I've written several articles for it - it's a TERRIFIC read. Yes, it's centered on America, but really well-done stuff. They also do special issues.
Personally, I was not interested in a magazine that covers only the view of one country, like USA, but a larger scope magazine that covers the view of all the countries that were affected by the war.
Yes, I do miss Purnell's History of the Second World War. Alas, it is long out of print, although complete sets do pop up on E-Bay every now and then. Thankfully, I managed to pick up the entire 8-volume set many years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purnell%27s_History_of_the_Second_World_War Cover photos & article list of each issue. http://www.american-history-magazine.com/ww.asp?group=0
Figured I'd throw this out here. Was reading an article about the ME-262 in the June publication of WWII History magazine. The writer, who's name escapes me at the moment, blatantly references David Irving and his Luftwaffe history as source material. I double take then sent a "nice" email to the editor.
