If I may. In respect of Bradleys fears, its not a theory. Bradleys own words "I much preferred," Bradley recollected subsequently, "a solid shoulder at Argentan to the possibility of a broken neck at Falaise." D Day: Closing the Gap at Falaise While there is much dissucussion about this, there are good military reasons for his view.
i am in no way suggesting american soldiers were scared to fight, but i think bradley was certainly looking, over his shoulder, but patton cannot escape critisizm.he ignored direct orders to advance northwards from monty, who was his allied commander.yours 4thwilts.
is it absolutely nessesay to have sources directley at hand when posting on this forum.is a forum not a place where individuals can make their own views known without somebody ramming some source or quote back down their throats.not all members can reach over to their personal library, take me for example,i broke my neck 11yrs ago and was paralized.i have the use of 1 finger on my right hand.2 carers hoist me into my wheelchair, and then my mother takes over for the day.so remember that not all of us can find their source material.it would also be boring if we all just qoted to each other all day.yours,4th wilts.
In simpathy with 4 wilts, I have to say that my personal library is dispersed among three differend garages within a 40km radius, and it's impossible to go catch some book which I don't know where it is to consubstantiate a quote. So until I find a house of my own where I can spread all my bookshelves I'll have to rely on my admittedly weak memory. Of course you can take me at my word or risk a visit by The Red Rabbi at the wee hours
