Motives for Iraq war

    According to many people in Iraq itself, the Coalition troops are in fact the only thing that stands between Iraq and civil war. They would be very unhappy to see the troops leave. On the other hand there is a large group that sums up the conflict like this: Saddam's gone and we're glad he is, but whether the current situation is preferrable remains subject of debate.

    Personally, I think it's a fairly good policy to give power and control gradually in the hands of the indigenous Iraqi army and police forces that are growing rapidly. Once they have actual control and handle it well, the coalition troops are free to go, right?

    Theoretically, yes. In reality? We shall have to wait and see.

    i agree .l had some misgivings earlier..but we sure as hell cant let go of the tigers tail now....
