Myth-Busting the Bismarck

    Thanks Corp. I sort of guessed at that " fact" I honestly thought that was so.
    True, but how many days was the chase, I cannot remember? I always think of the battleships having massive ranges.

    Rodney was brought into the chase on the 24th of May 1941 (she had escort duty bringing the Brittanic to Canada at that time so she was already at sea).
    Battle/chase ended the 27th of May as Bismarck was sunk.
    So no books so googles a bit:)

    Bismarck Range:
    9,280 nautical miles at 16 knots
    8,900 nautical miles at 17 knots
    8,525 nautical miles at 19 knots
    6,640 nautical miles at 24 knots
    4,500 nautical miles at 28 knots
    Fuel: 8,294 metric tons

    for Rodney
    7,000 nautical miles at 16 knots

    14,400 nautical miles at 10 knots
