The top pic is the Panzer 111 Ausf B ( Sd Kfz 141) Designation 2 Serie ZW The bottom pic is the Pz Kpfw 111 Ausf B Page 59 Misses gone to bed so I thought about joining in with the fun
Close enough. AFAIK The top one is one of the eight 1/ZW prototypes that received the 37mm (out of 10 built, chassis 60101-60110). AFAIK ZW stands for Zugfuhererwagen / troop commander vehicle. The bottom one is an Ausf B (chassis 60201-60215). As the Ausf D was also known as 3d/ZW I guess the B and C were 2/ZW and 3/ZW.
It's the Romanian Goliath 3 prototype. Lets do a "free for all" anyone who wants to post a pic now's your chance!
View attachment 12986 Hi guys - can't believe how little since my last (by the way was right) - how about this one....? (P.S. need the correct designation of course
you're not too far out cheef - the (p) is correct and it was loosely based on the 3001(p) but it is a later and higher vk number
The 003 makes me think it was one of the Vk 4501 (P) that actually served with Pz Jaeger Abteilung 653, the only user of the Ferdinand/Elefant that had basically the same chassis, as command vehicles.
Hi TOS - how're u doing? - You're as usual right on it's the vk4501(p) that was used as the command vehicle for the heavy at battalion 653 - apparently the only one of the original porche tigers to serve actually in its near original form - the correct designation for it in service is then apparently Panzerbefehlswagon VI (P). absolutely right it was used as the command wagon for one of the Ferdinand/Elefant units, which makes sense. Well done - your turn
Bit of a mistery surrounding that vehicle, most sources agree only 90 chassis were built (chasss 150001 to 150090), 653 and its sister 654 batallions had their full complement of 45 vehicles at Kursk. Others state 654 had only 44 and W.J.Spielberger, that was part of the design team and served with 653 abteilung, states only 85 conversions were produced by Alkett and the remaining five were completed as recovery vehicles, as it's unlikely a Kursk survivor was fitted back with the Krupp turret, the vehicle in question is probably one of the initial prototypes not part of the 90 pre-production ones, there were at least two prototypes possibly 3. Back to our quiz this is interesting. View attachment 21279
MS-1, also known as the T-18. Comparable to the French WWI-era FT-17 in terms of armor, armament and speed.
