Facebook ? What is that? Oh yeah- the "I had spaghetti last night" or " I woke up with a headache, hope it gets better today", gossip-lonely-hearts site.

    How about a Hoo-ah or a Oo-rah button?

    Hadn't realized it was a button ....
It's for the thread right? If the thread devolves can you cancel your "like"?

If you like it, use it, if you don't, leave it: it's a s simple as that.

With sound! The Ranger Joe's site was cool. When you logged on you got a loud and clear "oooooo-rah" belted out to you. Other sound effects might be neat too, like the crump of a mortar when you send your post, or an oo-rah when hitting the salute button, that sort of thing.

I can't say I'm a fan of the "like" feature, but I don't hate it either, indifference is the most accurate descriptor for my feelings about it. I think the size is a bit too imposing, but it's a feature easily ignored.

These discussions always seem to crop up every time a new feature appears. Some like it, some don't, and then we continue posting as we did previously. :)

That's a big Hoo-ah to Otto ! I don't really notice it other than a quick glance and then on to the post reading. I'll withhold an opinion on having a sound feature... might be too much like gaming. Although if you think about it, it could be interesting if it was something like a Sonic-boom or possibly a Nuclear explosion for a 'stinker' post. Or maybe the rat-a-tat-tat of an mg42, or rapid fire of a BAR, or maybe even a Thompson.......... sorry I digress - heading back to the new post button which is actually my favorite!

It's a shame there isn't an 'ironic' Like button as well :)

Totally agree Biak, we need more gunfire here!
The irony of you "liking" my indifference of the like system was not lost. :D Very funny sir!

    heh..

reminds me of the old days of vbulletin, where all you had to do to show you liked a post was to hit a green box, include a nice personal comment on why are you taking time to write back about the post and send it off.

made a difference to the person who is on the other end also as he knew why exactly he was being hoisted up.
the thanks button /salute button does the same thing except the repper can be more lazy and click a button..loved it.

now i have 3 different ways to express my gratitude depending on my current state of mind while posting..

    fully awake = rep
half asleep = salute so i can go back to bed soon
fully drunk = so i can like you and hit on you..

    i like it!
    (hic..)

i'll stick to the old way anyway and reply to that guy's post... might as well up my post count a little while at it ;)

I think maybe a "For the love of Christ we have discussed the living dog crap out of this subject and if you had any true interest in the subject you should have at least used the search option before asking your dumbass question for the umpteenth time" button. Or what about : " NO the fracking Germans could not have won!!! no matter what you think regardless of how many rockets, jets, tanks, machineguns or assault rifles they had." button. Or maybe a : "The only conspiracy that you should concern yourself with is the one between your parents where they tell you that you're not retarded."

I am thinking we could use several buttons

Nice subtle way to express it, funny. I know one thread, for sure, that you refer to, the "FNG".

HA! Gotta admit Jugs, that was funny. ...Busting balls isn't so fun for the bustee. You've earned "bust ball" status, but 58 is a good hombre....Have they made a "Bite me bumper sticker"? Cause I'm thinking that's a great idea.
