Well, you can't really say that dbloge is a real Alabamian, yet. Until he learns how to talk correctly and gets himself a truck and a houseful of armaments, he'll just be able to enjoy the benefits of probationary status only. We have rules and requirements, ya know. dboge, welcome to the forum and I hope that you enjoy living in this great state. I'm guess you are up Huntsville way? Lesson one on the accent. Y'all is always and forever plural. Remember this and you are well on your way. You are starting up a reenactor's group? I'm assuming WWII? And if so, are you going to put the Double D patch on your shoulder?

I saw your other posting looking for recruits for the heer. Don't think you'd be a part of the Dixie Division wearing a feldgrau uniform and a stahlhelm. You'll do fine there. The Huntsville area has a lot of "out of towners" by the vary nature of the major employer there. Do you work at Redstone? I have a very good friend from HS whose husband is there. He does something with guidance software for a missile. I have family that lives near the Wall-Triana Highway in Madison and my sister used to live off of it too, near Madison Blvd. She's in Phoenix now, married to an arms dealer. All in all, the Huntsville area is a nice place to live and we have given thought to drifting that way. A headhunter called me the other day trying to get me to relocate there, but I wasn't too interested in his offer. While you are there, drive over to Chattanooga to visit Lookout Mountain and Missionary Ridge and go the other direction to see Shiloh Battlefield. They're not too far away for a day trip. You'll like winters in Alabama, they last about 4-6 weeks. Up there, you might, see temps maybe below, say, 10 degrees, but not often. It usually rains a lot in the winter, too. We're a bit warmer down here in the Montgomery area in the winter, but we get just as much rain. Last snow here was Jan 2002 and it lasted 2 days.
