Agreed!.... 9 of 26 for 136 yards passing, 13 yds rushing, 5 sacks and ZERO touchdowns...matches a few other not so impressive performances...that is unless it was one of the freak games and ESPN was just drooling all over it!
I'm not all that thrilled or put off by Tebow's open show of religion, it is just who the young man is. It wouldn't fly as well I don't think if he were a follower of Islam, but that is because the Muslims are about 1 or 2% of the population. But that aside, I think that people who dislike Tebow as a player forget another young QB who didn’t come right out of the box a winner for Denver, John Elway. They made it to the post season his first year, but they promptly lost their first playoff game to the Seahawks. And while Elway was the starter, and Morton had retired, Steve DeBerg won as many games as John E., and Gary Kubiak even won one so they ended up with a 9 and 5 record. John was four wins, six losses, Steve was five and one, and Kubiak’s win was enough to take them to the wild-card game with Seattle. When they got the team around Elway he needed for his style of play, he started showing his true colors. I’m not comparing this young man Tim Tebow to John Elway, but let’s remember the team he stepped into was designed around entirely different types of quarterbacks, both Orton and Cutler were more like Plummer and Griese whom the team had been shaped to use. And they just weren't "winners", Tebow seems to be a "winner", he never gives up and always gives his all. He is a bit reckless right now, and needs some dead serious coaching but he has the right attitude at least. Let’s give it a bit more time, and not forget Brady Quinn who might just be another option for Denver. They might even come up with a quarterback by "situation" like the Steelers did back in the mid-ninties with Mike Tomczak and Kordell Stewart. Two entirely different styles of quarterback, used to exploit their own talents. That worked out pretty well for Pittsburg as I recall. They didn’t make it to the Super Bowl with that combo, but they did win a number of post-season games I think.
My father grew up near Baltimore so Elway is but one step removed from the anti-christ in his mind. Your correct though Tebow needs time to pan out, then we can desecrate his corpse!
OK OK OK OK ....lets back the truck up here! I don't care about his show of religion...and while I'am not the most religious or anti religious person in the world it is NOT a factor here! Tebow is refreshing in a sense as he does bring a Positive message to a world of pro athletics that is usually ridden with negatives....arrests,scandals etc etc.... It is just freaking old the media people who put all this...blah blah blah to how good he is and how good you will be if you just spend 5 minutes with him etc! That Does not mean he is a good NFL QB! Good in college does not always equal good in the NFL!!! Hell that said then what is Victor Cruz? receiver that's undrafted but tearing it up in the NFL and in the playoffs?
I really like what Cruz is showing, that said being a star in the NFL, and not being drafted out of college isn't really all that amazing when you think about it, and being drafted high is no guarantee of success either. Ryan Leaf springs to mind, but so does the un-drafted Kurt Warner! Man, the un-drafted stars are quite impressive when you check them out, like Warren Moon, Rod Smith, Tony Romo, Antonio Gates, Drew Pearson, Priest Holmes, John Randle, Larry Little, Dick "Night Train" Lane, London Fletcher, James Harrison, et. al.. A person could make a team of outstanding players using just those overlooked by the pros when they first showed up.
Well done Ravens, now if the Giants beat the Pack (which they are showing up much better than I expected at the moment), and the Ravens beat the Pats. The possibility of the Niners facing and beating the Giants occurs. The reason I am pointing this out is that the brothers Harbaugh meeting in the Super Bowl could happen! Now that would be weird and historic.
I don't care if he bows, prays, flips off the tv cameras or shoots lasers. He is over rated, and been praised to the highest this year for no reason. Comeback wins are great, but he has not been a solid performer all year. Tebow is a very low middle echelon quarterback and nothing else. He was very impressive in college, I saw him play live twice and I hated seeing him in that Gator uniform because I knew that he'd probably whip the hell out of my Vols...so last night was sweet sweet sweet.
Ah hah, a hidden motive for your opinion of the man appears. He whipped up on your Volunteers! Sorry 'bout that.
So far, only the Niners have won to keep my hopes alive. I hope they beat the Giants next week, I don't care much about the AFC.
That and the fact that everyone has been talking about him like he threw for 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns this year...
Oh no you did it now.....brought up every Charger fans nightmare....Ryan Leaf..That dude was a mess, talk about stinking it up!!!!!!
Enjoyed 75% of the games. If NO hadn't messed up on the 1st possession, things would have been different. But that's what makes the NFL so exciting. ..The NFL seems to be the most entertaining of all the sports. A combination of crowd, multiple camera's and replays, the hype, the history, make it unique in the sports world. Our neighbors on other continents feel cricket, rugby , football (soccer) are more exciting. But are their games covered by cameras that are strung 50 ft above the field, racing along with the action? A massive blimp flying above with HD tv on it's side? Fly over's by B1's and 2's? Janet Jacksons' nipple? **warning- things North Americans shouldn't see, but Europeans see all the time***Janet Jackson Super Bowl Nipple Slip Wardrobe Malfunction
Wasn't as bad as Roseane Barr's rendition, and at least he didn't forget the damn lyrics and repeat them twice, or.... The man simply shouldn't sing a'cappela anymore is all.
