If anyone would deny that the NFL is crooked, then would advise they watch...the show I saw on frontline last night. lol. Concussion has been their bane for a while now. It looks as if repeated hits which do not concuss are extremely dangerous in accumulation. Like boxers, where it has been a confirmed issue. The NFL has used "team" doctors to support their (three point- lol) stance. They deny that repeated hits to the head cause health issues later in life. ..Slices have shown that 19 of 20 ex nfl'ers brains obtained had brain injuries. Other contact sports- wrestling/hockey have also shown similar behaviors in men displaying uncharacteristic displays of violence/addiction. NFL commissioner Goodell is head of a multi bilion dollar industry. His denial of concussion evidence is disconcerting. Not to mention recent issues of player criminal violence-(caused by concussed players?) and how he handled all those multiple cases. Could this be the beginning of the end for NFL, eventually hockey?
The Black Sox Scandal did not end Baseball, so the NFL will survive by shelling out a little more money, then figure out how to make twice as much back some other way.
Afraid baseball and basketball will all that remain after the litigiosity is done. Of course NFL will have to change the rules, making it pretty much flag football. Maybe the ladies will play with the men. In yoga pants. That is the only hope left. NFL will try to drag it out in court for as long as possible. Virtual football maybe. Robot football...now you're talking.
I agree. In 20-30 years the game will be a shell of itself. Of course, money, unfortunately has turned into a cure all. So who knows how much green it will take. Can you imagine no football in Texas and Alabama?
Balls 2lbs under standard. 11 of 12 balls tested showed under minimum pressure. What will Goodell do. Will make for an interesting pregame show. ARE YOU READY FOR A PARTY?
I am very interested to see what happens here. I feel with all of the bad publicity the league has achieved this year he needs to strike a hearty blow. But I doubt it will really effect the BIG GAME.
Belichek's and Brady's press conferences did them little good and only reinforced the cover up vibe. The NFL will do nothing until after the Super bowl and then very little. My guess is that if the 'Ve know nuthink, Nuthink!' defense holds they get a token fine for not maintaining equipment to spec's. If some equipment guy becomes the patsy, a fine and that person gets fired. What they should do is have the league officials select 18 to 24 regulation balls for each game, retain custody for them except during play and recheck at halftime and before overtime. Should do, but probably won't. Nor is the NFL facing a extinction level event. The game will go on because there is too much money involved. They will tweak the rules, which the purists will bitch about, but keep watching. They will periodically shell out some money for long term injured players, but not enough to hurt their bottom line. In my lifetime they have expanded the number of games played, teams and divisions, all in the name of increased revenue. Talk of more teams and games are a yearly constant. Nothing this financially successful ever need fear extinction.
Looks like some poor sap on the locker room staff is going to have to take the low ball bullet. What a joke. Buddy will get a golden parachute though.
Well if Bill Nye refutes Belichick then we got a case closed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWFoRKPaTVU
At my school among some of the sports fans like myself, the whole issue is starting to become a punch line. Lol
Bingo. Some low-level shlub will be "guilty" and be relieved. The NFL will announce (after the Super Bowl) that it has investigated everyone and this guy did it. Of course, this will all be done with great fanfare.
