A German online encyclopedia, www.weltchronik.de, states that gassings in Auschwitz stopped October 31, 1944. Does anyone have info about this?

Yes,the gassings in Auschwitz stopped in late October 1944 and the Germans started destroying the camp in early November 1944.From January 17-21,1945 the remaining 58000 prisoners were marched off to other camps in the Reich, when the Russian Army was only 60 kilometers away.On January 27,1945 the Russian Army liberated the camp and the 6000 prisoners left behind who were too weak for the march.
