What are your plans without the rest of us? Putin tries to scare us with nukes but I cannot understand why he would like to be remembered as the senile old man who pushed the button if he does not conquer Ukraine.
Putin has demanded that EU-countries pay for their gas with rubles. Countries are pushing hard to get rid of gas usage and perhaps In two years we use other means to get energy, and Germany might have to keep their last nuclear power plants in action for a little longer.
Go Ukraine they are pounding the Russians caused high casualties and destroyed and captured lots of vehicles and dang they even have damaged and destroyed some ships. This war must be costing Russia lots, I hope they go broke again. I still think those pics of farmers and civilians making off with rusdian BTRs BMPs and tanks are comical. The Ukraine has set up repair camps all over men repairing or cans liking wrecks towed in to repair other vehicles and put them back in action. The Ukraine says they have captured and put into their service 110 tanks and numerous other vehicles. Captured supply dumps and have in some areas retaken land and pushed back the Russians. I haven't seen anything of Putins super tank the t14. Weren't they saying how it was the ultimate in tank warfare. Is it their too precious to commit or their just isn't that many of them yet. I bet the west would love to see what happens if any of the latest anti tank weapons hits one of those. The Ukraine has lasted far longer than most experts thought they would, but now their running low on weapons and food and water. I thought that was nuts that one city occupied by the Russians and the soldiers were begging the civilians for food and even apologized for what's going on. That one tank driver ran into his commander like what ran his tank into his commanders tank? Bet that guy disappeared into the woods and not by choice. Many rusdian prisoners have expressed fear of going back, many of the prisoners have already been listed as KIA even though the Russian command knows their POWs so those guys could be executed and who would really know. Maybe they should ship those guys out to other countries were western intelligence can question them. The west must be having a field day as reporters have said intelligence teams have poured in to observe and study a lot of the Russians supposed latest technology captured by Ukraine. The Russians have always heavily used Rickey salvo weapons as far back as wwii massing large numbers for heavy bombardment. I wonder how they reload them manual per tube reloading. The design of the MRLS was brilliant they have the tubes caged so a system built in pulls the whole caged tubes out drops them and then drops the empties picks up a loaded cage and puts into the launcher housing and their ready to go. If anything the Ukraine tank Corp and mechanized corps have grown considerably.
Interesting information about the war, terrible war. But aren’t they all. I follow it on CNN. I’m usually up about 6:00AM and turn on the Sony. But, just for a change of pace………..Spam. The eating kind that has been joked about and enjoyed (perhaps) by millions through the years. To me anyway, the only way to eat it is fried in Pam and butter on the stove. Not too dark and not too plain, just right. I have the Light Spam, not as salty. I have not had one of my favorites for as far back as I can remember. So tonight, it was fried Spam and scrambled eggs and one piece of toast. I buttered the pan, sprayed a little Pam and sliced rather thinly, five slices of the Spam with a cheese slicer. I use a gas stove. Just got a new one. (that’s what the best cooks use) I fried the slices to perfection and set them aside. To fry, I always have to put the fan over the stove, in the microwave, on high. Otherwise the smoke alarm goes off and the chihuahua disappears for the rest of the night. But now, she associates the fan with the smoke alarm going off, so she disappears anyway. I took three extra large fresh eggs and mixed them with just a bit of milk in a bowl, added salt and pepper and stirred them vigorously with a cooking whip, and with the burner on medium, added them to the Spam grease. So, the eggs got scrambled good, the toast popped in the toaster and I added it all to a paper plate, set up my TV tray in the living room with the big Sony and turned on “The Five” on FOX, at 5:00. (If it means anything to the fans here) So, that’s my “share” for tonight. I do like fried Spam, the light version. And by the way, the chihuahua smelled the fried spam on my plate and came out of her hiding place. She’s overweight.
Oh just me being awake due to disease in my bones. Never give up. I love learning about ww2 new things every day. Go Buddies Go! I don't know if that sounds funny to you lot but I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Every day I learn something new means 365 things for every year. And that is something!
Spam you say ? Just picked up a can of Hickory Smoked Spam and a couple tins of Kippers (sardines) today ! If you haven't stumbled across this yet Jack B had a good thread going. Oh and there are several mentions of Spam. Someday I really should visit the Spam Museum, it's only 4 hours from here. SPAM® Museum in Minnesota | SPAM® Brand
Yeah like spam too fried some times I like to dice it up into small squares then fry it and then add butter and steamed rice mix it all up and add a little soy sauce and eat it with fried eggs. Another thing is to slice it up into small strips and lite fry it the pour it on top of ramen pretty good they do that in Hawaii during the war meats were hard to get because the army was using unhip all the fresh meats so they made can meats available to the civilians and spam became a substitute for pork. Ramen is traditionally served with a few slices of pork belly but since it was hard to get spam was used as well as a sub for sausages and bacon. Spam fried with mustard makes a great sandwich too. Tried it straight out of the can not bad but like it better fried. Lol, spam and eggs sound good, Hawaiian style, scrambled eggs spam and steamed rice.
Hmmmm that sounds familiar. I think one of the funniest Clint Eastwood movies was paint your wagon when Clint got to the scene were he had to sing the whole theatre started laughing, Clint may be a good action actor but he's no musical actor. I might have to look for that one too
It will probably be difficult for Russian POWs to be repatriated as many will probably be accused of being trators or deserters. I think it's crazy they say that Russian soldiers are joining the Ukraine. And the Ukraine has become a wealth of knowledge on how to destroy the latest Russian tanks. T80s and the latest T90s. I sure the Ukraine has reported to the EU and NATO just where to hit those tanks to knock them out. The west is getting a lot of info I'm sure on all types of rusdian equiptment. Also how well anti aircraft missiles are at knocking down some of the latest rusdian jets. I think that hit by a stinger on that missile was incredible. Like a missile flies faster than most jets so that was an amazing hit. The Ukraine has really increased their combat equiptment in tanks and other AFVs and some trucks from all the vehicles they have captured and repaired and returned to service. One thing they are going to have a lot of scrap metal to deal with when this is over. Funny the Russians don't seem to have a lot of their tanks fully upgraded. They say most are 70/80s types and only a small percent are even of 2000 upgrades. They said the cage armor was a help but lately the pics show tanks with the reactive armor and not much of the cage protection. I guess the army didn't have time to add upgrades to everything or just couldn't afford it. You'd think if you were going to conduct a major war you'd try to upgrade all your combat vehicles for best combat results. The Ukraine has put over a hundred rusdian tanks in their service. I bet Putin is pissed that their own equiptment is being used against them. I think the Russians are just trying to cause as much devastation as possible now as they are losing ground. I bet they targeted the theatre because they intercepted news broadcasts say that there were lots of people there. That rusdian General saying they are doing precision strikes as to preserve homes, infrastructure and factories what a lie, there's whole city blocks just flatened and then they just bombed a bunch of factories, that's bad as the Ukraine will need all their factories to help rebuild the country as I'm sure the Russians will do all the can not to help while Putin is I charge. I can't believe he's blaming his intelligence officers and other military advisors. I'm sure that rusdian General that committed suicide figured he'd probably end up on disgrace and charged with military incompetetence. Looks more and more like Putins war is falling apart. His soldiers protesting the war and many starting to desert and join the other side. Many tired of fighting with little food and other supplies and others just not fighting but just hold their positions and others just giving up. The ukrain says they now have thousands of POWs. Maybe they should send them to one of the liberated towns or cities and put them on cleanup duty. This war must be a huge burden on the russian economy and society. Like how many thousands of rusdian protesters are in prison. Reporters are being threatened with deportation if they keep trying to report what's going on and the Russians own news media is being censored by Putins news machine. They say Putin has been staying out of sight most likely worried an assassination attempt might be waiting for him. Some banks and stores are experiencing runs. Many banks are low or out of cash as people are trying to pull their money out like wow their even offering 20 percent interest for people to keep their money in the banks like can the banks afford that. Then many stores with foreign products are getting bought out as people are afraid their favorite products will disappear with the trade sanctions imposed. All the McDonald's have closed and many other American companies have closed their doors. It was funny when I was watching that vid on the evacuation center the buses and vans and even cars being used to get people out there was a McDonald's in the background or at least a McDonald's sign. That one was in the Ukraine so I wonder if they were helping with coffee and meals for those working at the center. Breaks my heart all those poor kids scared and confused holding on to stuffed animal toys for comfort. You would think the Russians are on the verge of total collapse they have lost many of their upper echelon officers and many of there soldiers morale is just about broken with many surrendering or switching sides and many apologizing for the war. I wonder what the Ukrainians will do with all their prisoners send them to the western border or to other countries as they probably don't have the resources to care for them all especially with the Russians trying to cut off all aid coming into the country. They known if they can cut off supplies they can weaken the Ukraines resistance. So far they say they are still getting weapons but humanitarian aid food water medical supplies have been slow in getting thru with some hunanitarian convoys reporting being fired upon by Russian forces. It would be only natural they would want to stop any supplies getting to the Ukrainians as the Ukraine has been hitting their supply convoys trying to deprive the Russians of supplies and grind down their ability to fight. I hope on complete russian army switches sides that would probably get many others to rethink about what their doing. Russia is getting desperate trying to recruit from other countries and telling all immigrants if they want citizenship they have to join the army and fight. The US does something similar you serve a hitch in the military and you can get citizenship knew a guy from Mexico that did that another guy from Mexico did the same but not sure what happened he got a less than honorable discharge and was facing deportation hearings had to get a immigration lawyer. Lo, my brother in law and his friend joined the army and got sent to Hawaii they when awol he turned himself in before the time limit for desertion but his idiot friend stayed out and was court marshaled. Said he loved it in Hawaii though did a lot of surfing. He wants to retire there but Hawaii is even more expensive than California to live in.
Kinda makes me wanna work on my t72 and t80. Been trying to make a decent basic model for casting the trumpeter kit I have is not the best, but maybe one day their will be a good one. Wanna try to do a t90 conversion from one of my t72s. And a late upgrade version of the t80. I'll probably need to buy new plastic sheet and strips. Kinda low on my selections. I think someone came out with a decent bmp or btr. Need to look online for what's good out there
Looks like Russia's offensive may have run out of steam and Ukraine counter offensive has pushed back Russian forces and regained territory. Ukraine is a real mess with some cities and suburbs totally flattened so many buildings just charred shells. I'm amazed even in modern times how many duds they have to deal with from unexploded bombs and rockets and other ordinance. It could take several years for Ukraine to recover. I wonder if all the refugees will return or decide to relocate to more peaceful and secure countries. I'm sure many families are worried if they will always have to face such things again. While other young couples might want a place where they feels safer for the future of their family. Others to get away and try to forget the horrors and losses. I really think most never thought the Ukraine could hold out for so long on paper it looked bad for them I think the one thing the Russians didn't consider was the will to fight to defend ones homeland. The Russians should have known that the whole thing about wwii was the motivation of the people to defend the motherland. I guess Putin and his advisors forgot about that. Plus the Ukraine has always been treated as a inferior nation to the Russians even as far back when imperial Russia conquered the Ukraine. They were treated poorly by the soviets so when they were finally able to be free and their own country again they are fighting hard to remain a free nation. Someone said forgetting the past can lead to ones down fall. I guess Putin and his cronies have forgotten the past and think it doesn't apply to them. They have ignored just about everything they did wrong in past engagements since the fall of the USSR. They keep repeating the same mistakes analysts said they did in afganistan and Chechnya and other military actions. In all they had terrible logistic problems and their urban tactics were very poor leading up to heavy casualties and equiptment losses. And what BS about precision surgical strikes there wreaking everything they can out of spite. Now it's just trying to inflict as much damage as they can before they tuck their tails and run for home. Also I'm with petri I hope those guys from the Middle East freeze their asses off and run back home crying for their mommies. That might be something for the Middle East many of them have started their own military industries many are still very small but they are starting to make head way they still don't have the munitions industry as eupoesn and other western nations they should make deals with China or Russia to license build weapons as a way to sub stain themselves and be a secondary seller to Russia or China. One thing for sure they really need to rebuild their tanks as those older soviet era tanks are pretty near useless as during desert storm allied nations had little trouble knocking them out. I think India had a bunch of old t54/55 type tanks and refurbished some chassis and put a different turret on them some other countries are working on similar lines. It kind ticks me that the EUAnd NATO won't do anything to provoke the Russians screw that if Russia wants to attack they won't wait to be provoked.
I don't know why the Russians are even trying to hide or lie about the war. The rest of the world knows what's going on and the Russian people are not buying everything their being told. Even the US from sat and drone photos say though they can't confirm Ukraines tallies they say they think the numbers may be closer than what the Russians are claiming. Every week that goes by the Ukraine army is getting stronger as they keep capturing more rusdian equiptment I'm surprised the Russians haven't seemed to do much to try to destroy abandoned equiptment like they did in WWII. I still don't get why our government doesn't want the poles to give Ukraine those migs yet they trying to make a deal for f35s. They need planes now not months from now. Hey does anyone know if the ghost of Kyiv was real or just a morale booster someone dreamed up???
Because that's what they do. The USA doesn't have any issues (that I know of) with Poland giving Ukraine their Migs. It was the issue of Poland giving them to us to pass along to Zelenskyy. Cover their butt while letting the US take the heat. The "Ghost of Kyiv" ? If it's propaganda I'm all for it, if it's true (and not that improbable), Ukraine has a national Hero. "During the Kyiv offensive, which began on the first day of the invasion, videos on social media began widely circulating of fighter jets in Ukraine shortly after the invasion started, including claims of a single pilot who took down multiple Russian jets.[2][3] A pilot of a МіG-29, nicknamed the "Ghost of Kyiv" by Ukrainians, was claimed to have won six air fights in the sky of Kyiv during the first 30 hours of the invasion.[1][4] The six planes are reported as two Su-35s, two Su-25s, a Su-27 and a МіG-29.[5][6][7] If the ace does exist, they would be the first recorded fighter ace of the 21st century.[8] The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence claimed that, should the downings be confirmed, the Ghost of Kyiv could be one of dozens of experienced pilots of military reserve who urgently returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine after Russia invaded.[9] In a tweet, it referred to the Ghost of Kyiv as "the air avenger".[10] However, in a claim by Ukrainian commander-in-chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi, he said he could only confirm a total of six Russian planes downed on the first day of fighting in Ukraine, though there may have been more.[4] Ghost of Kyiv - Wikipedia
Yeah read a lot of that too I actually hope he is real and that the photos are real too been trying to figure out how I would make a plane with those makings have to search thru decales and see if I can find large playing cards or figure out how to make my own was thinking I could print them and then cut them out and paste them on then clear coat. First I need to finish rebuilding my migs I got drawings of the mig 29 from a russian book of line drawings and my model is really off. I'm a little disappointed in DML on that one although they have done a lot of really good kits unfortunately this isn't one of them.
I think there is a some kinda world-wide agreement the previous owners must agree with giving the guns to a land in war. Finland had to get the agreement from Germany and Estonia to give artillery previously owned by them to send them to Ukraine. I think Poland is asking the agreement from the US to make it clear about NATO or no-NATO just in case before sending the planes. Or Putin bursts a vessel in his head...about time, too. Ha-ha-ha. I love the russian choppers go down in youtube, cannot help it.
Ell whatever the problem I hope they get it cleared up and get the planes to them as they lost so much of their Air Force when the Russians took over those bases in the east and south and even put the base personnel under house arrest. They say about three hundred thousand Ukrainians have been taken to Russia and reports of kidnappings and missing are being reported like what are they doing to those people Putin is losing so much that he dealing on the human trade market to raise money for his losing war. The whole thing is just another example of the type of autrocities the poor Ukrainians are having to endure.
Yes, hopefully Ukraine gets those 70+ Migs although I think Ukraine has done pretty well with ground-to-air missiles. Has Russia ruled the air-I think not. They use artillery instead. Btw, did The US promised 11,000 new Javelins or did I get the figure wrong in the news?
Agreed. I would think in case you just push a button. Maybe under drone attack or a "safari" you are better off sooner or you are dead.
