Reflections on Australia's last desert nomads, Pintupi Nine and Richters, and the homelands movement - ABC News "The Pintupi Nine emerged from the Gibson Desert in 1984, almost 200 years after European settlement"
Nice to see the USA doesn't have all the "dickheads". I'm sure every club has their share. Thank you Australia Heated exchange at club championship leads to one of the best on-course tantrums we've ever seen Only thing I noticed was the tantrum guy was hitting back to his own fairway !! What ?? !
I might have even learned a few phrases from the disgruntled older gent. Who by the way is younger than l. am !
Reminds me of this guy who became an overnight sensation in Australia...Its his wife that makes me laugh...poor woman.
Since I'm sharing: Recently went Christmas shopping and wouldn't you know it I wanted something on the top 'over stock' shelf. Now I've never been what you'd call overly tall. Okay, Okay not even close. I'm 5' 6" in my stocking feet. 5' 8" in my Cowboy boots. You can add another four inches with my Stetson ! Anyway, after ten or so minutes looking for an "associate" (or a damn ladder) finally broke down and approached a guy who was perusing the same aisle. Walking up to him I ask if he could do me a favor and he said sure. Being as he was just a tad short of being mistaken for Sasquach I figured he could reach the eight foot high shelf. Now I can reach about seven feet two inches if I stretch but the ONE thing I wanted was at eight feet just out of reach and asked him if he could reach a item on the top shelf. He grinned, said no problem, walked over and got the damn thing down for me. I noticed he had a remarkable resemblance to Trace Adkins - other than the Onyx earlobe plugs, not as deep baritone voice and why the hell Trace Adkins would be in a small town in Northern Minnesota ? As he was taking down the box, we were in the "Kids toys" section by the way, I mentioned it had been a bitch being short all my life and I thanked my parents for that every day. That's when I saw his smile and - I know it wasn't Adkins - but they could sure pass for brothers. Moral of the story : You meet the best people when ya ain't looking.

Well given we are a defence force...One could ask the question. Someone could twist just about any scenerio and say we acted in defence...even if we attacked first. Australia hasn't had a proper bomber/bombing aircraft since the F111...We still have many potential enemies in our region. China is continuing its armament...including missiles and drones, plus a stealth bomber. All these things are first and foremost about deterrent. Australia needs to maintain its deterrents, update them and make sure they are a step ahead of EVERYONE in the region. Second: We are a part of the US's strategic plans for the Pacific. And the US is a part of ours. Thats why we buy the same equipment and train together...We can slip into an American led campaign...or they can slip into ours. Fighters, tanks, submarines, and perhaps bombers (and thier ordnance) should be interchangeable... Its smart for the US because they have (a deputy) in a vast region that actually lives in the area... Its smart for Australia because we can sit under the US umbrella of protection. We keep in the back of our minds that it also makes Australia much more of a target...But Australia wants to play an important part in our region, we don't want to be menaced or threatened, and we want things to remain peaceful...sitting on our hands is NOT going to achieve this.
Then the deterrence is the alliance, not the B-21 Raider. Unless, of course, Australia will be coming out as a nuclear weapons power. Which will have much greater implications.
More bucks, less bang. High maintence. Single aircraft logistics. EXPENSIVE! Nuclear bomber with no nuclear payload. Australia would do better with purchasing more P-8 Posideons & AGM-158s, at far less cost, and it would serve the same purpose.
