This may be coming to the skies near me!
    Hope,hope.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., visited the Minnesota Air National Guard’s 148th Fighter Wing on Tuesday, again pledging her support for upgrading its existing F-16 aircraft to the F-35.

The 148th, elected officials and local business leaders have long argued obtaining the more modern fighter jet will help secure the base’s future and ensure its 1,000 jobs and $96 million economic impact stays in the area.

“It’s one of the reasons why we try to continue to rejuvenate this base so that we get the best technology and the best planes,” Klobuchar said. “And if we think planes are going out of vogue, or we don’t need conventional warfare, I think we don’t have to look much farther than what’s going on in Europe.”

Klobuchar said she and other senators worked to remove language in last year’s National Defense Authorization Act that would have made it difficult for the 148th to obtain F-35s.

With the base still able to qualify for the new jets, Klobuchar said attention must now turn to making the case within the National Guard and Air Force that the 148th has the necessary workforce and is in an appropriate location to host F-35s.

And there needs to be funding for the planes she said. That could be tricky.

148th Fighter Wing Commander Col. Chris Blomquist said the Air Force was looking to “cut a lot of money to recapitalize into the future, so it’s just a tougher time fiscally right now.“

But having Klobuchar visit was encouraging.

“It just really helps reassure the men and women of the 148th that we have the backing of our elected officials to ensure that we have a mission here in the future,” Blomquist said.

Two of my best friends are currently cruising around LA in their F350 pick-em-up truck with a Santa strapped to the fender like a dead deer.

LA ? Folks there won't make the connection. Probably figure a 'celebrity' took out a yard decoration on their way to the nearest cannabis establishment.

My Urologist says that they got all the cancer and it’s unlikely to come back…I just need a scan every six months! The best present I could wish for…Merry Christmas!

Russia just announced it shot down a drone (presumably Ukrainian) at one of it's air bases causing the drone to hit it's target.

That is a rather unique way to spin a story. I'm impressed. i.e. "Russia states its armed forces have severely depleted the Ukraine's stock of Javelins and NLAW's. Russian generals released data showing Russia has destroyed thousands of Ukrainian anti-tank missiles by attacking them with tanks. "Ve drahv owver tanks into ze paath ov ze incomink mizzles destroyink zem against owver ahmur."

Well, I'm sitting here after shoveling 14" of snow off the sidewalk And a few beers. Reminiscing about the past 49 years. Today marks 48 years of marital bliss!
Which equates to 49 years... With. The. Same. Woman!

Unbelievable ain't it ? We've traveled the States, endured ups and downs, been lucky enough to experienced things some dream of or plan to do/see and are now grandparents and old codgers.

No one has every been accused of asking for my advice but:
Grab Life by the balls and enjoy the journey. Don't sweat the small stuff (it's all (mostly) small stuff), Live for today and be kind.

Georgia “Tiny” Broadwick was the first woman to jump from an airplane.
Between 1913 and 1922 she completed over 1,100 jumps. She invented the ripcord and is the only female member of the Early Birds of Aviation.
In 1914, she demonstrated parachutes to the U.S. Army, which at the time had a small, hazard-prone fleet of aircraft. The Army, reluctant at first to adopt the parachute, watched as Tiny dropped from the sky. On one of her demonstration jumps, the static line became entangled in the tail assembly of the aircraft, so for her next jump she cut off the static line and deployed her chute manually, thus becoming the first person to jump free-fall. This demonstrated that pilots could escape aircraft by using what was later called a ripcord.
