If anyone's interested and wants to kill an afternoon, the EAA air show is going on in Oshkosh Wisconsin. I pulled up FlightRadar24 and the sky is Full of WW2 era aircraft. There's a P51 flying escort on the wing of a B29 right now. You only see icons and need to click to see what is what but I'm not doing anything anywho.
USAF Tests Palletized Munition System In Pacific Wasn't really sure where to put this : Actually talked to the dad of a current air force pilot who was involved in this - (while standing by "Bonnie".) The U.S. Air Force’s Air Mobility Command (AMC) has conducted a successful test of the Rapid Dragon pallet system as part of its massive exercise across the Pacific, as the command wants to include the system in all of its planning. The command, when asked about the Rapid Dragon’s involvement in the Mobility Guardian 2023 exercise, said that it “in coordination with U.S. Indo-Pacific Command successfully conducted a palletized effects test.” The Rapid Dragon system, initially developed by Air Force Special Operations Command and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), uses an air-dropped pallet to launch cruise missiles or other systems. The system, first tested in 2021, originally focused on the Lockheed Martin Joint Air-to-Surface Missile (JASSM), though the service has expanded the system to other munitions and systems, such as cargo-delivering drones. The system has completed three phases of testing: demonstration on the C-130 and C-17 with JASSM, command-and-control testing for retargeting, and validated deployment systems. The system is currently undergoing a phase of testing focused on high-altitude drop, jettison and deconfliction of “operationally relevant payloads and is working toward powered flight tests,” AFRL says. AMC Commander Gen. Mike Minihan tells Aerospace DAILY that he wants Rapid Dragon’s capability included in everything the command does, largely because of the dilemmas it could create for an enemy. “Now the adversary has an infinitely higher problem to worry about. [They] don’t need to worry just about the bombers, [they] have to worry about this C-130 and every other C-130 on the planet,” Minihan says. “C-130s can do it. All of our partners and allies fly them, so you can give the adversary an infinite amount of dilemmas that they need to worry about.” The system also works on C-17s, which also are flown by multiple other allies. “I’m not saying they would do the same thing, I’m just telling you it’s an effect [that] has a lot of magnitude when you can do those things,” he says. AMC would not specify where the test took place, only saying that it was conducted by U.S. forces. Mobility Guardian, which wrapped up July 21, took place at several locations across the Indo-Pacific ranging from Alaska to Australia, with hubs in Hawaii, Guam and Japan.
Well well...This would explain what i heard on the news last night...Australia to spend 10 billion on new C130s... Multibillion dollar investment in new C-130J Hercules aircraft | Defence Ministers
Story running today... Travelling tent boxer Beaver Brophy becomes camel racing champion in Queensland outback - ABC News Shes a top Aussie bird...Fancy being called Beaver. Does America still have tent boxing? She has only lost twice...Would like to see those two ladies. She's been a jillaroo, personal security guard to rock star Pink, political candidate, youth worker, bush cook, Australian representative rugby league player, and currently works as self-described personal assistant to Pauline Hanson.
Hell that's nothing ! Sit a drunken Blond (or Brunette for that matter) on my lap and you'd be amazed at what I could accomplish.
Can you believe I sat in the seat of this magnificent machine? Yeah P-47's Rule. Grand Champion at Oshkosh 2023 AirVenture. I'm trying to convince the wife to let me do a mural on the basement wall. It would only be 8-1/2 feet tall by 25 feet long. Perfect fit. OR I could cover the shed overhead door; it's 9x16'
What you need to do is get yourself an RC P-47. Fly it when you want, display it when not flying. I got the boys a couple for Christmas two or three years back. An F4U for Chris and a P-47 for Ryan. When we were setting up the controller, I drove it into Ryan cutting him pretty good. Should have chocked the wheels, but I tend to ignore safety rules. They are great though. I got the biggest size you could fit in the back of an SUV, (for transportation to where you fly it) for both. Depending how deeply you want to get into them (time and money and scale), you can get a large one with a high-quality transmitter for not an unreasonable amount of money. This is higher end but gives you an idea. rc p-47 - YouTube

Now I'm not gloating or anything like that but I 'did' touch the wing of this ! While she was undergoing restoration. https://m.youtube.com/live/E8ffED6X...fuEyWZiMwmcbdEI7-Ojn_cLs-OuuoeWRcsmbgT7nqmxtA
Hmm...Makes me wonder what the greatest thing i've touched in my life. I've touched many aircraft including a Boomerang (Very rare). Anyone touched an F-14? or B2? I've had 200K in my hands before (Did work experience at a bank). Sounds weird but i had a girlfriend once who kept me at arms length for 6 months and then...Whoa! Not trying to be crass...It was an almost religious experience. I've touched a Tiger Snake that went up my arm. Would the 51 or 47 be the greatest thing you have touched Biak?
I'll not divulge that information due to the fact I'm married, (nearing 49 years now) and it was well over 51 years ago. Plus I love my wife and My Life !! Some things can cause 'issues' no matter what's happened in the past no matter how long ago it may have been. I Ain't Stupid! And you never know who might accidentally happen upon this post. I got grandkids for God's sake. That said, I have touched a B2 -& an SR-71 at the USAF Museum in Dayton; My butts been in a P51 - "Sierra Sue" and a P-47 "Bonnie" both are the same models my uncle flew that I may have mentioned a few times. Although they weren't fueled up they hid the keys and kept a close eye on me. Shook hands and Golfed with a D-Day Veteran, and just to keep things on an even keel I hugged my Wife this morning. If I die tomorrow so be it. Couldn't have asked for half of what I've had.
