I am restoring an Iwo Jima vet OY-1 (Stinson L-5) spotter plane. Listed in the VMO-5 March War Diaries are flights by a Lt E.R Coakley. No other info. Please forward other pilot names from album

The B-25 in post #4 carries an AAF s/n 42-32307, and the name "Beautiful Girl" on the nose. It most likely served with the 13th AF, 42nd Bomb Group. Attached is a photo of the nose of "Beautiful Girl" with the name in the same script but the art added, and this photo is attributed to the 42nd BG.

The B-24 "Shady Lady" in posts #5 & 6 is 42-40212 which served with the 13th AF, 307th BG and later in the 7th AF. It is a B24D with a field mod Consolidated turret added on the nose. It was later stripped of paint and the "D" style greenhouse nose was restored. See more pictures here (V6):

The common link is that the 42nd BG was assigned to Guadalcanal from June - Oct '43, and the 307th BG was assigned to Guadalcanal beginning Feb. '43. It appears the album is a collection of photos from various units, not just what the owner was assigned to.
